Imprisonment = reversible. New techniques in forensics are still be improved upon and are able to exonerate people. Death = irreversible. Oops! If I was innocent but sentenced by a court to death, damn right I'd want my 30 years to find a way to challenge and reverse the decision.
Ill ask you 29 years into it after you've been bubbas eternal itchbay to see if that opinion has changed. but since I gather you're a diehard liberal, I could be way offbase. you may beg for a longer sentence.
You don't have to be a liberal to not want innocent people to die, do you? I am a libertarian. That is about as polar opposite to liberalism as you can get.
Rotting in prison, at tax payers expense, is not expensive? It may not be a deterrent to all, but it will be to him. Twelve man firing squad---eleven live rounds-----cheap!!!!!!!!!! Or prove to me what he did, throw him on my property, come get him in the am. I'll pay for the ammo.:hihi:
But my favorite line from that movie comes minutes earlier by Marcellus Wallace, "We're gonna get medieval on his azz."
Do some research and then get back to me. This is not me talking but research done on the topic. I agree, if we just shot them it would be cheaper......but we don't. Bullets are cheap, unfortunately, it's not the way we do things. Be realistic not idealistic.
capital punishment sentences cost 2 to 3 times the amount of life without parole. capital punishment cases require: two trials (one for conviction, one for sentencing) automatic appeals more expensive attorneys and expert witnesses death row housing once convicted (which is twice the cost of general population)
Yeah, but it's the same with McCain. I'd be surprised to see a Presidential candidate come out and say something like "I'm against the death penalty for child rapists," especially when a lot of Americas wish death on others for a lot more things that child rape (for example, what if someone brutally tortured your dog, or what if some cut your little girl's face up so bad it mangled her for life, heck... I have a friend who had his car broken into, so he put a silent alarm in his car that would go off in his bedroom and parked his car within gunshot of his window, hoping to murder the next person that came along trying to break into his car -- I have another friend who was at a gas station in Baton Rouge when a black male approached him with a gun and forced him to give him a ride to a place a mile or two away... and my friend put a custom gun holster in the drivers seat of his car so that if that ever happened again, he'd have a chance of murdering that person).
