It's hard for me to believe a writer that appears to only be able to write two-sentence paragraphs at the max.

Why would a guy leave a no pressure situation like Nick has at LSU for the major pressure and job insecurity of an NFL head coach job? Nick's getting top dollar, he's winning, has two #1-ranked recruting classes, and is fitting in here like we thought no yankee could. LSU doesn't tell him no to anything. Nick has already turned down at least two pro offers and the Notre Dame job.

Saban is making a run for a national championship here in the next two or three years. He has the players, the support, and the style to do it, too. I think he'd like to leave a Spurrier-like legacy. After he suceeds or fails in getting an NC, like Spurrier, Nick may move on to the NFL to finish his career for $3-5 million.

The NFL will always be there for Nick, he doesn't have to jump just because there is an opening. His name will be mentioned for every NFL job because a lot of people would like to have him. How often does Tuberville get a call? We have to accept this with a top coach.

All coaches leave after a few years. When Nick leaves it will be because he is moving up. When most SEC coaches leave, it is because they were fired.

    I totally agree. Geaux Bears!

I think with the recruiting that Saban has done Dinardo could take this team to the NC. Okay, maybe not. But it would be interesting to see the good college coaches lining up to coach at LSU. You know Saban, as good as he is and as much as LSU fans love him, is not the only good coach out there. :lsug:

West Virginia is Baja Ohio. Plus, West Virginia seceeded from the Confederacy, so he's technically a yankee, in the Civil War sense.

All his previous playing and coaching was in and around Ohio, except for Michigan State. That's all yankeeland. Of course, some say anybody from north of I-10 is a yankee, which makes me one, too!

Can we all agree that Dinardo was a yankee?

Nick is making less than $2 million at LSU. If the Bears come up and offer him something in the $3-5 million range - HE'LL GO IN A HEARTBEAT.

And, NO ONE should blame him. ANY of us would do the SAME EXACT THING. Especially if he can get a Spurrier-type guaranteed contract.

Look at Spurrier's deal. He was making right at $2 million at FU. In Washington, he's making $5 million/year, guaranteed for 5 years. So, NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, he's got $25 million in the bank after 5 years (taxes, notwithstanding). He would have had to work another 12.5 YEARS at Florida to make that up.

So, in 2-5 years, if the Washington gig doesn't work out - HE STILL GETS THE $25 million. Then, ANY college will still pay him $2-3 million (depending upon the then going rate) to come back and coach in college.

My bet is that Saban is looking for the same type of deal.

Yes Dinardo was a Yankee and I guess your argument is valid with Kent State etc etc...

Correctly if I am wrong but isn't Skip from New York ???
    (Long Island or something)

We adopted him (As he did us).

WHEN Saban leaves, hopefully later rather than sooner, i'll say "Thanks Nick"
He will have left LSU in a MUCH better situation than he inherited when he got here.

True it i sdouble the pay but there is a difference when you are making that kind of money. If I am making 30,000 and a new job offers me 60,000 I would take the new one in an instant. The difference in your lifestyle at $2mil/year isn't a lot different than 4-5mil/year. He isn't exactly living from paycheck to paycheck.

I think Dan Snyder might be wondering if he did the right thing considering the success (or lack thereof) Spurrier had last year. While Saban is a hot commodity, he has had nowhere near the success Spurrier had at UF.

i think Saban needs a couple more top 10 finishes and really contend for a national title before a team would even think about a Spurrier-type deal. And keep in mind - not every team is owned by a Dan Snyder type. There are a lot more Tom Benson - type owners than Snyder type owners. I bet Haslet makes less than Saban. Saban will not go to the NFL on a lateral-move type basis.
