It's funny how the same story has popped up in several outlets. It reads like he has fallen from the heights of SEC coaching to the lows of middle school coaching when really, he is just doing something to kill his time until better gigs surface. I am not a huge fan of the chief, 3rd and Chavis seemed to fit well with Miles values in playing not to lose, but I think it is a bit of a stretch for a headline considering there are many coaches like him, just wanting to scheme. Doing it for kids has got to be humbling, but this is more click bait than story.

To think how differently he would be remembered by LSU fans if our offense could’ve just kept the ball a little and scored 22 points. That’s not an unreasonable ask. His defense was more than good enough to be a national champion that year.

There are a lot of ifs about that game. I would live to inject Les Miles with truth serum and question him

Too many third and Chavis plays and the fact when he left there were more kickers on scholarships than linebackers sealed his legacy even if he'd won a title imo.

Ask him while under the truth serum, why John Chavis could not stop Alabama in 2012, just 1 time, when the winning points by LSU were already on the board.

Ua 1-10 at Ua28 ALABAMA drive start at 01:34.
Ua 1-10 at Ua28 McCarron pass complete to Norwood for 18 yards to the UA46, 1ST DOWN UA (Jalen Collins;Craig Loston).
Ua 1-10 at Ua46 McCarron pass complete to Norwood for 15 yards to the LS39, 1ST DOWN UA, out-of-bounds (Micah Eugene).
    1:18 remaining
Ua 1-10 at Ls39 McCarron pass complete to Norwood for 11 yards to the LS28, 1ST DOWN UA, out-of-bounds.
    1:11 remaining
Ua 1-10 at Ls28 McCarron pass incomplete to Norwood.
    1:00 remaining
Ua 2-10 at Ls28 McCarron pass complete to Yeldon for 28 yards to the LS0, 1ST DOWN UA, TOUCHDOWN, clock 00:51.
    Shelley kick attempt good.

I know why. Instead of waiting until after 1st and 2nd down, we were playing 3rd and Chavis the entire drive.

I’d take a middle school coach at this point. Oh, wait...

Are you suggesting that 3rd and Chavis is better than 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Pelini? I’d rather have the defensive players call their own plays like sandlot football that to bring him back.
