Miles first game against Tennessee, the comeback by Clausen, we were in the North end zone and as Tenn. was making the comeback people were chanting "we settled for Les". There were many in that section that sit around us that hated him from day 1. Even when winning they complained about how we were winning. I am not sure if this is common at other schools, but it is common in Louisiana. Not sure if our culture just can't embrace success or what it is. I think we could do better than Miles at times and lately his product hasn't been very good. Chavis either for that matter. The year we had a great offense, our D shit the bed. I have never been impressed with Chavis and absolutely hate his style of Defense. I think Chavis was the lucky one because he benefitted from our talent pool. We have not had a good pass rush in years which is why everyone QB looks like Joe Montana against us and the small LB crap sets you up to fail against larger lines and backs.

As far as Les, his fire looks to be gone. The presser after the game he was whipped. He hasn't looked the same since Saban raped him. I hope we get an aggressive DC and an offensive game plan worth a shit. Watching what CUM has done with tOs is heartbreaking considering we can't complete a forward pass with any QB we have and stud WR's to throw to. You could see that 3rd string QB with one, yes one, game under his belt grow in confidence against one of the best D in the country. He just never flinched. Yes he made mistakes but they let him keep playing and overcome those mistakes. I'm hoping we do something great but I'm thinking we won't.

Oh & btw Shane, where is my shirt?

In Cypress now, but won't be here long.
You should, even for you, know I can't give out info and stick a name on the internet.

Fact: I posted this with Chief started way before contract time

I don't know as much as you guys do, and I certainly am not tuned in, and I admit, I never said it, cause I knew I would catch shit, but I just never was that enamored with Chavis and his D. Figured it was my ignorance. We will be ok on D, it is the QB situation that gives me the willies. For a long time, now, too!

I truly believe this is more than money or a clause in a contract. Chief knows Miles is not going anywhere during his contract. Miles is locked up until 19 and a four year deal would keep him with us until then. This is deeper, maybe on Chief's part, maybe on Miles part. There was probably some tension between the two which is why he left. Either Chief insulted Les on the piss poor offense or Miles said something to him about the D blowing games the last couple of years and it probably escalated and feelings were hurt. He left because he is no longer happy at LSU, why, we prob. will never know.

If it was not for Chavis drastically improving his D then LSU would have lost quite a few games more than they did.

They can't just pour money all over a guy who hasn't earned it. Chavis didn't start out with that kind of money either. But LSU has shown that it is willing to pay top dollar for top talent that produces. We have the highest paid assistants in the country. I think they will go for top DC talent and pay for it if they have to. But it will come with incentives that have to be met to move to the top.

I rarely agree with BRETT on football, but I think he is right in that this was not just about the money. There is something else going on.

Maybe Chavis got upset that Cameron was hired for $4,667 more than Chief was making. Not much money but he may have felt disrespected by the AD. I mean, we lost the best track coach in America to Texas A&M because he had won 21 national championships and then LSU hired Pokey Chatman for more money than he was making. It sometimes doesn't take much for a marketable guy to look for greener pastures.

Maybe Aleva thinks that Chavis has peaked and was unwilling to grant a long guaranteed contract at top dollar to him. Lots of younger defensive coaches out there with much upside. Which means that he was discretely given an open door to walk through and an opportunity to get the money elsewhere. It is clear that LSU has the money to offer him more if money was the issue.

He says an awful lot of good stuff, you just don't like to hear it. And some of you are determined to run off anyone that dares disagree. You have actually said so.

Yes Miles does bring a shitload of talent. LSU lacks pass rushers, it's that simple. That said, Chavis turned the LSU D to a very strong unit. When you consider how often their on the field because the O is so often in for a three and out.

On the flip side, Miles also brings in a ton of talent to the O. Where is his criticism in how inept the O looks. Hell, you could have taken East St John under Perrilloux and they would have looked better than the LSU O. Again, you can't keep making excuses for Miles and slam the OC and DC or position coaches. Eventually it comes down to the head man.

We agree that the prevent D Chavis called costed LSU the Bama game. Considering how many games it lost over the last few years you would think Miles would finally overrule him. He didn't, as the HC he it also to blame.

Be honest, you're really Les Miles?
