Meh, maybe, he was still in his hey day at that point. I don't think the seat was hot I just think he said "to hell with this passing stuff"
That quote from Chavis pretty much says it all for his reason for leaving. Don't really care if he left or not, but it shows what he thinks about the offensive side of the team. Kind of piss poor and pussified on his part in my opinion, considering his defense was the weak link last year. If the recruiting hook to get highly rated players is putting dudes into the NFL, then the implied task is to have a system in place that gets younger players ready faster. Otherwise, I think 9-4, 8-5 becomes the norm. Some seem to be content with that. I think it could be much more. Starts with that abortion of an offense and QB.
You don't remember how fast people were on his ass in that offseason? Questioning the Perriloux decision, there was a sect of the fanbase that never liked him, and always wanted him fired and after that season I won't say he was on the hot seat at that point, but it was warming up. 2009 and 2010 it got really warm until LSU beat Alabama in 2010 @ Tiger Stadium with the ole River left. I guarantee you, had that play not happened, and had LSU not beaten Alabama that day, he would have been on the hot seat for sure. Remember mixed in there was the Ole Miss debacle, and the Tennessee victory with no time left and we get the extra play and Ridley gets the TD for that crazy ending against Derek Dooley. It's funny how some crazy play that works erases the boneheaded clock it. Speaking of Lee from the other post, isn't it funny how Lee saved that Tennessee game with that huge 4th down conversion on the last drive? And the Florida to Toliver fade in the game that the fucking field goal bounce pass was in. Holy shit, now that I think of it. It's always some miracle that saves his ass, and he's running out of miracles. He used them up early.
