I'd try to get him in there, he will be gone in 3 years for sure, IMO. Maybe not, but that's the way I'd go.

No sense redshirting him in my opinion. Plus if he plays baseball doesn't he lose a year of eligibility in football even if he doesn't play?

At the very least, he'll be a special teams player. If he's as good as advertised, he'll get some playing time at safety.

I think there would be no point in redshirting Chad Jones. He could go play pro baseball after three years, rendering his 5th year of eligibility beyond useless. Get as much out of him early as we can.

Exactly what I was thinking. Plus, I have no doubt we can recruit a talented safety in the next couple of years so it doesn't matter. It makes a nice difference to have a great recruiting staff knowing you can play guys early.

Not to mention he is a beast.

Im confused, it sounds like the assumption is if he doesnt sign with the stros by August 15th that he would be a Tiger for at least 3 years...what would stop him from going pro in baseball in 2008???

Chad's stock in baseball is at its highest right now would be the reason, I would think.

By rule, once he plays here he has to stay through his junior year... I think

i think they can be drafted anytime if at a jc or cc or if they are 21+.

in all cases, that would still be 3 yrs for mr. jones and me, stumbling through the barrio.

He would not lose a year due to baseball. He has 5 years to play 4. Clock starts on the day he enrolls regardless of what he does in other sports.
