If ND were going to join a conference, the Big Ten is the only conference that makes since. I personally think ND will stay on its own, because it already basically has its own network, and whether you agree with it or not, it already has a seat at the table in terms of NC discussions simply because of it national presence. IMO, why would ND join a conference and have to fight for its life every Saturday against some of the biggest apex predators out there, when it could just stay in its own little pond and control everything around them and still have a seat at the table? I would be shocked if ND decided to move anywhere!

“why would ND join a conference and have to fight for its life every Saturday against some of the biggest apex predators”. Conversely, why would the apex predators in the super conferences who will have to go toe-to-toe inside their own conference want to schedule ND? If the Irish are not careful they could find themselves on the outside looking in.

You make a good point, but I think teams will want to schedule ND because it helps its strength of schedule and that could be the deciding factor in getting into the playoffs. While other teams non-conference schedule might include teams like Tulsa, Memphis and UCF, the team that plays ND is going to get the nod over those teams that played a cupcake non-conference schedule.

Notre Dame is falling behind B1G and SEC schools in terms of generating revenue. Their current deal with NBC pays them $15 million a year. B1G and SEC schools are projected to make $100 million a year by the end of this decade. Simple math tells me ND will join a conference eventually.

ND is garbage. Yes they are full of themselves and for whatever reason the talking heads love to kiss their Irish asses but they suck. Any time they have made the playoff they get destroyed, not just beat they get blown off the field.

They simply cannot sustain in this new environment and frankly I couldn't care less what they do!

I don't disagree but it's not about the on field performance. Notre Dame brings a national following and lots of eyeballs.

Keep hearing that but never met single person that watches their games outside the aforementiined beat downs in playoff. This isnt 1988 anymore and there are more than 3 channels.

Last year Notre Dame averaged 2.8 million viewers, 9th best in the country. As a comparison that's more than Nebraska (2.2 million) and LSU (1.9 million). Nebraska and LSU were 12th and 16th respectively. Ohio State led the way with 5.2 followed closely by Michigan. Alabama was 4th.

My point still stands, never met anyone. Have you? This "national brand" stuff is cooked up BS from NBC who has hitched their wagon to a dying star. Like I said, its not 1988 anymore.
