I remember when Leon Lett slid into the ball during a missed field goal attempt in the snow in 1993. The ball went into the endzone, and the Redskins jumped on it and won the game. That guy was a blooper-factory.
Have you ever been the player that was beaten? Don't you think that most of the fans in the stands know that? But you feel the need to show out? I have a friend that is a high school ref. He told me just the other day about a young non-caucasion player that stopped a player on something like third and three. He jumped up and kind of dry-humped around. Shook his head like no-no, never against me. My friend said he wanted to ask him if he realized that this player, that he just made the tackle on, had beaten him for a td three times that night!!!!! They have a rule for the excessive celebration.....but the black refs will over rule against a white ref that wants the flag. Maybe this is just local------BUT IT HAPPENS. What ever happened to celebrating on the sidelines with your team mates? Oh---those refs say that it would overly EXCITE the fans......
and here i thought you were gonna say Ole Miss would like at least one opportunity to be able to taunt during a score.
Problem is officials seem to have enough of the celebrating, period. :dis: I HATE it when officials throw flags for unsportsmanlike conduct for celebrations. I mean, this is football! Where the object is to take all of my phsyical strengths and match them against yours and see who's the best. It's a physical game--and was NEVER meant to be "I scored on you. Sorry. You'll stop me next time. By the way, nice hit you put on me earlier--you really made me blow snot bubbles on that one!"
There is a fine line between a show of exuberance and entertainment, and a pathetic "please look at me!!" display. Things I like: - High stepping - Joe Horn's cell phone dial - Most of what Chad Johnson and TO do when they score - Jumping in from about the 2 Things I hate: - Celebrating/taunting after a six-yard catch at midfield - Turning around and showing the other team the ball as you stride in to the endzone - Flexing muscles - anyone who plays D1 or NFL ball should be in pheomenal shape so, big deal.
You are from Irving and don't know this one? It was against the DOLPHINS, and it wasn't in the endzone... it was at the 15 or so, and it allowed them to kick a field goal to win it
