it will be fun to see if dallas goes after a big 12 team as a host team or will the fiesta keep the big 12. if the fiesta keep them then will the acc/big east teams stay in the orange? i think any team in the big east could use a vacation in warm arizona during the first week of jan.

    what i would do..

rose- pac 10 vs big 10
    sugar- sec vs at large
fiesta- big east vs at large
cotton- big 12 vs at large
    orange acc vs at large

of course one bowl would host the nc and throw a couple of affiliations off but whatevuh!!

How far is Arlington from Dallas?

Is Arlington a big travel city?

    Right next to it.

Sugar Bowl isnt going anywhere. The reason they made it a BCS Bowl was because of its money making abilities and prestige. New Orleans is only going to get better. It is obviously the off season and this guy had to have an article to write.

Thanks for the info Red, and yes I had no clue they had a international airport in Arlington.:thumb: I usually fly out of Atlanta for those international flights.

Room availability, parking and security. Those are the three things that will determine if the Sugar Bowl remains in the BCS package. Money. Yes. But those three things usually equate into money. I am not sure how many hotels have reopened, but I don't think room availability will be an issue. Security could be a deal buster for NO if it does not do something about the shootings.

Plenty hotel rooms are available. Parking is the same ole problem as before.

Security is no more of an issue than it was before Katrina. New Orleans was one of the worst crime cities in the country before Katrina, and it still is. It's not a problem as long as it is kept out of the tourist area. I've been to NO countless times since Katrina and have yet to see one problem in the tourist area.

Intersting that the Cotton Bowl will not even be in the same county as Dallas-Arlington is in Tarrant County (close to Ft. Worth).
Arlington is similar to Glendale (Fiesta Bowl)-freeways, chain restaurants, sterile suburbia..
    So much for tradition...

I live here (N.O.) and most of the crime seems to be occurring in just a few "hot spots"... In all my years here even I have never happened into these certain areas of town except maybe a few times by accident. I seriously doubt a tourist could become so lost as to find themselves miles from downtown in the middle of one of those places. Granted, the numbers these bad neighborhoods are putting up is insane and needs to be dealt with b/c it still brings bad press and it still shows on the city's crime statistics.

Over time, as the police force grows and gets a better grasp I imagine the numbers could possibly come down even past pre-katrina levels. In the mean time, like you said, it's not really happening in tourist areas and I'd venture to guess 90%+ of all the murders are drug dealer on drug dealer meaning one less dealer (not saying this is great or anything but at least I haven't been reading too many stories about people shooting up random law abiding citizens' families or something like that)... Too bad their mommas make new street soldiers every 9 months or so. :dis:

Off the subject a bit, but hearing the talk of the NBA All-Star game in NO next year is the only thing that has piqued my interest in the NBA in a long, long time. AND, that interest isn't for the basketball.
