Wow...thank goodness we have people like you to tell Saban that....what would we do without the light-guiding truth of yourself? :dis: :dis: :dis:
Pretty much. But isn't it easier to say we don't have this that or the other instead of saying we are not taking care of fundentals. I think some times people get the syndrome of it can't be my fault it has to be something else. Don't know why we are not doing these things this year but we aren't. You can have all the targets on your back they want to put but if you tackle well, give your QB time to do something you will win games. Have not seen a plauge for dropped passes just trouble getting them to thr receivers against quality teams. We are not playing to our talent level. Don't know why. Ask the players.
I agree with the fundamentals post. I've especially been discouraged by our linebackers' inability to shed blocks and stand up runners. But to target a specific area.. I think we're missing Lavalais, and maybe even more so Marquise, than any of us thought. Did anyone else notice that most all of Ware's sizable runs were to Oliver's side? The Spears/Williams side has not been a problem, but they've found a weakness on the left side and have been attacking it. Also, the weakness on that side of the line has allowed o-linemen to get downfield and bottle up our LBs.. and they have as i said been unable to shed them. How many freakin run tackles did Landry make on Saturday? Argh. I think Dorsey will be a great one by the time it's all said and done.. but man we need another end who will step up and rush/occupy the way Hill could. Spears can be neutralized if they don't have to worry about the other side. To me the line is the heart of the problem. Without being able to get pressure with 4, they can better handle our blitz, and with no pressure/hands to the face of the QB, he'll light us up as evidenced on saturday.
Good points. Lavalais, Marquise Hill, Eric Alexander, and even Jack Hunt were great talents AND leaders. Mauck, Clayton, D. Henderson, Peterman, Rodney Reed, Edwards, D. Jones, etc is just too much talent AND leadership to replace without a dropoff. I attempted to express doubts that Wroten could fill in for Lavalais but everyone seemed to think he'd be as good THIS year. When I read quotes from other guys on the D-line last year saying how Lavalais was calling out the plays before the snap, I had a bad feeling he'd be missed more than people thought. He was the identity of the line. I've only been watching LSU since the Arnsbarger days but he might be the best all around, game changing, talent I've seen on D while Clayton might be the best on offense. Factor in everyone else we lost and there you go.
You couldn't be more totaly off base blaming the coach for being arrogant, you are arrogant. And the bottom line is that teams win at the line of scrimage in games of this nature and UGA won both battles convincingly.
