I'll just bet Castro retires and turns over power to someone else. Castro will still rule, but it will be from behind the throne.
I think he's' had it and they are preparing the people. I bet he didn't even write the resignation. Fidel hasn't been seen publicly since last spring and the video released sure looks like a tottering and confused old man.
Just another small step for Cuba to become free. Looks like their day is getting closer and hopefully the US Gov't will end the embargo.
I am afraid Cuba will have to wait until the younger Castro bites the dust before it sees any hint of democracy.
I think we'll start to see some progress between the U.S. and Cuba when Castro dies, but not before then. The U.S. certainly won't give him any satisfaction in his dying days. But when he is dead, I think you'll see some easing of trade restrictions. We've sort of done that over the past decade, allowing states to sign trade deals with Cuba. I think Washington will do something pretty quickly after Castro dies, giving them a sign of what could come if they hold free and fair elections.
