I had my eye on a 2 year old Toyota Corolla. It was a little over 7,000 and had much better fuel economy than my current ride. I am probably 2-3 years away from needing a newer vehicle, but if I could have gotten 4,500 trade on my car which has a private sale value of $4,000 I would have done it.

The only reason to limit it to new vehicles is to line someone's pockets.

Well the plan is obviously a subsidy to the automakers. It has nothing to do with the consumers.

If this administration can not run a simple cash for clunkers program how do you expect it to run a health care program?

I am not bashing the cash for clunkers program (in fact it is the only program I know of that seemed to work from the stimulus plan), just how can you be so short sighted or stupid to develop a program you think will run for six months and it last six days?

Ahh a plan to help a special interest group.. Who would have thunk it.

How about just giving us all an extra $4,500 tax credit. But wait that will help everybody.....

Well, it was never designed to run for six months. I believe it was until November 1 or until the funding ran out.
