exactly. this does nothing for consumers. it simply forces people to buy cars with their own money. or more accurately, it allows some people to buy cars at the expense of everyone else. why should joe sixpack pay taxes so some idiot with a 2001 ford explorer can upgrade? it cant possibly be justified. the only argument is the environment, which is is of course, a ludicrous lie pushed by upon us. i have spent around 2 grand on bicycle parts over the last year. where is my bailout, i am saving the living **** out of the environment.
I don't think you understand how many people wanting new cars have tried to buy them in the past 18 months and not been able too. I am not going to pretend for one second that I understand all the politics involved. But what I will say is that had this happened under Bush the folks that are complaining about this would be saying how much this is going to help the economy. Whether it would or not, those of you that have deep rooted political beliefs seem to find whatever their guy does to be good, and what ever the other guy does to be ridiculous. Even when you have to make up logic to have it make sense to you. I couldn't care less who does it, I just want this crap to be over with. This is not a personal thing directed at you Sabanfan. Even though I laugh at some of the beleifs you seem to have and logic you seem to use sometimes, I'm pretty sure you are smarter than me. :hihi: But before you get the big head, I'm pretty sure Red is smarter than me too. :hihi:
why is this repeated so much? who cares about what bush loyalists say and when they say it? this is a terrible terrible thing, and barack obama is a terrible terrible unbelievably bad president. he is a a massive tax and spend lunatic, hellbent on destroying the economy and our freedoms. people cant even keep their pay because barack wants to take it away so morons can buy new goddamn cars. it is ludicrous! why are you talking about bush?
Ok, well again, not gonna pretend to understand all the politics. But in my country ass logic: If they decide to scrap this program is everyone going to get some of their tax money back? Of course not. They will go spend it on blowing up some crap 10,000 miles away. But, If they keep the program, then everyone that takes advantage directly benefits. So therefore I see a direct benefit to the taxpayer from this program. We pay the same tax either way.
well, in the sense that we might accumulate less debt to pay off, yes. killing brown folks 10,000 miles away is a far better way to spend money. they benefit in the sense that they get to steal money from the taxpayers who dont take part in the program. it isnt right.
I don't by myself new cars as I am fiscally and financially responsible and a vehicle is the worst possible investment known to man. I find it absolutely f**king ridiculous that I'm paying for other people to buy new cars.
and it crushes some of the lower-income folk: a given in life. anytime the govt gets involved in its veiled effort to help you out, you're getting massively ****ed in one way or another.
tirk, you really think most of these cars are being taken off the roads permanently? I really doubt the capabilities of the government to track all of these "clunkers". I bet a large percentage are right back on the roads. overall though, a terrible idea.... but the Europeans are doing it.... so we should too. Hey, lets try to model a health care plan after those there too!
yeah they are making sure these perfectly good parts in most cases are destroyed for no good reason. for global warming? these people need to eat today.
they have an official system they use to destroy the engine, filling it up with some abrasive liquid and running it until it destroys itself. destroying wealth is not really the best thing for the economy. we pay taxes for useful cars to be ruined.
