I call bullchit....your opinion no longer matters...next. Some may find it surprising to discover that Christianity is not a minority religion in the world. As this graph illustrates, Christians far outnumber all other faiths and groups. Statistics from the World Almanac in 1992 showed that at the height of the millennium, the Christian population on earth measured one-third of all the world's inhabitants.
And your bullchit call was spot on, but you shouldn't be too quick to dismiss my statement. I was reaching back to my HS education where my teacher told us that Islam would overtake Christianity on the worldwide scale. Its not there yet, but it will likely happen in this century according to the growth rates in the link below. We can debate the merits of the projections, but odds are, they aren't too far from what we would expect to see in the next 15-20 years.
You may be right...but I hope you're wrong. I don't see islam spreading into the areas currently dominated by Christians. We (Christians) will never stop spreading the word in islamic areas. There is no telling how many souls have been saved due to our being in iraq. If nothing else good comes from the war, at least we have that.
Islam is only about peace with other Muslims. Non-muslims are either to be destroyed, or to be conquered and ruled as second class citizens.
That statement is about as extreme as the extremists who want to kill all the infidels. It all depends upon what your definition of an infidel is. Would you care for the extremist definition, or the run of the mill Muslim definition? I know plenty of Muslims who have no interest in either exterminating or conquering non-Muslims.
I wasn't saying that all Muslims want to kill infidels. I'm saying that is what the Koran teaches and is the example set by Muhammed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dhimmi "Before launching an attack he (Muhammed) would offer them three choices — conversion, payment of a tribute, or to fight by the sword. If they did not choose conversion a treaty was concluded, either instead of battle or after it, which established the conditions of surrender for the Christians and Jews — the only non-Muslims allowed to retain their religion at this time. The terms of these treaties were similar and imposed on the dhimmi, the people ‘protected’ by Islam, certain obligations." Muhammed to Muslims is the perfect man, and the true Muslims are taught to emulate him as much as possible in their own lives. Hence the problems we are having with Fundamentalists. They are only doing literally what the Koran tells them to do. That is true Islam. A reformed version of Islam is what your friends follow. And Islam doesn't mean "Peace" by the way. It means "Submission".
