So am I. I checked and I've never changed my status from 40 years ago. I'm suddenly feeling an urge to have my hand out.

I could not care less what you believe google bot. I have been a registered democrat since 1986 and have no intention of ever changing. However this is not nazi germany, nor communist russia. You are allowed to vote as you like despite who may be running/ruining your national party.

I live in the south. Democrats in the south are traditionally conservative. But maybe google didn't tell you that before you posted yet another in a long list of uninformed posts.

I already said she wouldn't be my choice. But this feigned outrage at her appointment is ridiculous. It's politics! It happens a lot! She has influence and that is what politics is all about.

Anybody who gets the seat is going to be appointed and then they have to get themselves elected in a coupl eof years. That's been done a lot before, too.

    That'll be the day.

I object to all things that are foolish, biased, and one-sided. I'm not a fan of the Kennedy's as you well know, but I'm smart enough to recognize that she is viable. She is influential and can raise money and could win the seat outright in a couple of years. Money and influence . . . #1 and #2 on EVERY politician's list.

It's not feigned and it's not outrage. There is no anger or vitriol in my statements about her inadequacies at all. To steal a line from you...."why don't you stop trying to tell me what I think, and just tell us what you think?"

So does corruption and pacs. You seem to have big problems with those. Why? They "happen a lot", don't they?

So do lobbyists and you sure rant about those guys and how they are destructive to the democratic process, and merely screws "the people". Why is that enough now?

TheDude, did you, at least, catch the John Wayne reference from "The Searchers"? That was his tag line in that classic.

    Oligarchy

This is not a Liberal or Conservative, Democrat or Republican issue. Federal elections are not realistically open to everyone. You have to have access to an @$$ load of money. Either you have it yourself, or you have a name that the money people are willing to back.

This is, in many ways, no different than Dubya or Jeb or Hillary or any of the other Kennedy clan, or about 50% (conservative estimate) of the Senate.

It's sort of scary how few bloodlines truly run through the halls on Capitol Hill.

That's how it is in Texas, but in not in Louisiana. Louisiana has closed primaries: you can't vote for candidates in their respective party primaries unless you are registered in that party.

Regardless, your "I'm a Democrat, I don't object to Caroline's politics" nonsense isn't fooling anybody. If Caroline and her family represented the consevative values that are so dear to you, you wouldn't be throwing a hissy fit about her. To argue otherwise makes you look like a fool. But yes, I know, you're too stubborn to see this, and you'll swear to the day you die that you are honestly so blind that Caroline appears "unqualified" to you.
