When the state government appoints a replacement to fill a vacated US Senate seat--that is just following the 17th Amendment of the US Constitution (passed in 1913--ninety five years ago). Senate seats become vacant by death, resignation, or expulsion. Since the 17th Amendment was passed 95 years ago, 180 US Senators have taken their seats by appointment, including Andrew Houston (son of the famous Texas hero Sam Houston who Houston, TX is named after).
It is not in dispute that she can legally be appointed. Or that other famous people have been elected to office based upon their name. The fact that she is being appointed because of her name is a joke. Every argument made here is a sad justification. It has nothing to do with politics, and every thing to do with politics. It would not be more acceptable if she were a republican. Quite simply, she is a shell with a label. The people here trying to actually defend this appointment....well, there isn't much else to say about you. You have revealed plenty.
GOP people: Again, the sky is not falling for the GOP. The GOP is still strong. Cheer up. If I was still Team GOP (which I used to be and many of my most respected/cherished/loved family and friends still are), I'd be mad at you for acting like babies. Be strong. Be what you were taught to be when you were raised GOP. Quit whining. It makes the GOP look bad.
Yeah, Caroline is ten years younger than Hillary, and I see more bad pictures of Caroline than I do of Hillary. But they aren't all bad:
We're so used to people in the spotlight having work done on them that a normally aged public figure looks old Anyone notice that Saban has less wrinkles and bags under his eyes than he did 4 years ago. Think it's because he's getting more rest??
No, in this case, I think it's the Kennedy jowls that become more and more pronounced in all of them as they age. I'm not a fan of cosmetic surgery, and since it looks like Caroline Kennedy hasn't had any, I respect that.
Typical Republican? I don't make fun of people's looks. Although, in case you did not notice, at 14 Chelsea was not a raving beauty.
