If they go for Kennedy it will not be for her experience in politics, it will be for her ability to raise campaign money for the next election in a couple of years and keep the seat Democratic. There are a lot of Congressmen with little or no political experience, Cao is a prime example.
You're right about that, and I don't think it's a bad thing, actually. Of course, as a Kennedy, she doesn't really have any experience at anything useful in a practical world.
I'm not old enough to know the name of her pony, SabanFan. The first "first child" I remember was lovely little Amy Carter.
Your edit is correct. Macaroni was the name of the pony. What's not as well known is that Macaroni was found dead in 1998 in the Lincoln bedroom. She had been sexually assaulted.
Do they really need money for that? Keeping that seat Democrat, I mean. Too quick!! I knew the answer to that one! The bedroom part....glad I finished my Diet Coke before I read that....Dells don't take well to spittakes:lol:
My point was he did not just jump into the presidential race without experience, like Kennedy is doing in the senate race. Usually before someone tries for the senate, they build up a resume of having been elected to local and state offices. But Kennedy's big claim to fame is her last name. Period.
Her ability to raise money and her last name are THE big reasons why she is being considered. In my opinion, that is not enough. But the biggest grip I have is the feeling among the Kennedys is that they are entitled to an elective office because of their name. At least Cao had a job before running for the house.
It's no different from Ted Kennedy. He graduated law school and passed the bar in 1959. The next year, his brother, JFK, vacated his Senate seat to become President. JFK got the governor to appoint a Kennedy friend to hold the spot until 1962 when Ted turned 30 and became eligilble to run -- when that happened, they had a special election and Ted was elected US Senator, a position he would hold for the next 46 years. The Kennedy family isn't the only prominent family that has people in the Senate. The Rockefeller family has Senator Jay Rockefeller D-WV.
macaroni edit: oops, didnt see you already answered the question. leave it to someone who grew up showing horses to know that tho!
