FWIW I live in Phoenix and would love to see LSU out in Tempe. I am not pushing for the game to be played in TS. My main point is Skip and Co. have enough integrity to determine if the game should be played in TS, and I trust their judgement. Skip already stated he would like Federal and Local gov't approval before moving forward.
I want the game at home, but if the situation is still the same I think the game should be moved......I hate it but there is alot worse things going on....
LSU has done an awful lot of of hurricane katrina support. An awful lot. Not just at the PMAC, but at OEP and other areas on campus and around town. I'm working on a holiday and have put in long hours doing hurricane katrina support. Many, many Baton Rouge residents and Tiger fans have contributed time, labor, and money to this effort. Attending this game is a small reward for those doing our part. It's just one evening. That is going way too far. Out of line, if you ask me.
There is a center for refugees set up beside the stadium in Shreveport. The hotel, motel situation should be a little better.
NY didn't have politicians suggesting the area wasn't worth rebuilding. Besides, we're talking $100 billion, people. As for the four hours, read my post before flaming. I'm referring to the people who are watching this from other states. There are individuals taking leave time, and forfeiting their pay to fly here and volunteer their professional services. Meanwhile, the state's own residents take the day to watch a game. Big people think through what other have to say, and respect their opinions. We can all disagree, some, however, enjoy making a sport of it.
I actually edited that part out about the big people, but to be quite frank your post appeared to talk down to those who think the game should possibly be played. After all you brought up acting like "big people". Then you go on to compare attendees of the game to looters. You have a pretty poor way of getting your points across.
I think they should play in tiger stadium. Dubois makes some good arguments if we are talking about the game today. By next saturday the situation may be improved. But i will support any decision made by the LSU administration because i trust them to do what is best for the State and the University and the people.
Since I haven't been around for you to know me, then I can accept my posts are getting read differently from what I am intending. I'm not meaning to talk down, it just reminded me of an episode when you have to choose what is right, even if you might have to go against something we all love and want. And for the last time, I don't think LSU fans are like looters. But, it is very important we watch how Louisiana is portrayed in the media. We simply can't afford to have bad PR at a time like this. Potentially, one might see 90,000 fans watching a game as being offensive - more so if the game actually caused problems. No one had to convince Congress and the nation NY was worth it. Louisiana is facing an uphill battle right now. That was the point I was trying to make, however bad or offensive it came accross.
Hey, I'm down with playing the game in Houston...okay, I'm a bit biased. Why not play it in Shreveport, if necessary?
Revenue from whom? The game will be played on ESPN regardless of the location, so that revenue is already baked in the cake. Most gameday revenues come from Louisianians themselves, so it's just the left hand giving $$ to the right, is it not? Not trying to be an ass or anything, but if I'm wrong, feel free to correct me.
