Are any of you guys going to buy Cap One Bowl tickets now, or are you going to wait until next week to be certain?
Tennessee has no "leverage" whatsoever. Are you on crack? Have you seen how pitiful Tennessee is? This is far and away the worst 2 loss team in the nation. They will lose by a minimum of 28 points to Auburn in Atlanta. They will be ranked about 25th in the nation. They will be more than damaged goods come time for Bowls to be picking their teams.
Dude, we are going to the Capital One if Tenn loses, which they will. Not sure how UT gets the option to choose or where you get that idea from
If a bowl bid was based entirely upon the best available team, Michigan wouldn't be in the Rose Bowl. We are still talking about a million dollars or more spread to the team that ends up in the Cap One Bowl. Like it or not, Tennessee will try to use whatever leverage they have to wiggle their way in. And take a look at the Cap One Bowl website. They are part of a larger organization. This is the comon sense equation... LSU would be a good matchup against Iowa. Tennessee would probably be able to at least stay in a game against Wisconsin. Georgia and Texas would be fairly matched. But I'm not holding my breath. AND I'm not buying tickets just yet either. Hint: I bought my Cap One tickets last year from a guy who was certain that Iowa was going to the Cap One Bowl over Purdue.
OK dude...please read ESPN or something regarding bowl tie-ins. The Capital One bowl game is required to take the #2 team in the Big Ten. This year it is Iowa since they split the Big 10 with Michigan, but lost the head to head. Last year it was Purdue since they finished 2nd. As for the SEC, they have the first pick of the SEC teams after the BCS team. After they choose, The Outback picks, then the Cotton Bowl picks. The Capital One bowl is not required in any way to take the SECCG runner up team........they have choosen to recently because they have been the best option. Tennessee is not the best option this year because they suck. Georgia played there last year, and is an option this year. LSU is hot, off a BCS NC, and travels very well. As long as Tennessee loses Saturday, LSU is Orlando bound. Hope Tennessee enjoys the Cotton Bowl.
ok i like the hope but its not going to happen the thought is good but you guys are expecting too much, I looked into it and i am very disappointed. I don't want to see our beloved Tigers in the Chick-Fil-A Peach BOwl:cry: after they roll over Jones and the 'backs, but that is whats going to happen as this scenario will follow; sugar bowl: SEC 1 winner of Tenn vs Auburn capital one bowl: SEC 2 loser of Tenn vs. Auburn outback bowl: SEC 3 Georgia Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl: Sec 4 LSU :sob: :dis: :geaux:
I give up..from SEC.com SEC CHAMPION - Bowl Championship Series Currently in its seventh year, the Bowl Championship Series determines the National Champion. Last season, LSU defeated Oklahoma, 21-14, in the Nokia Sugar Bowl to claim the National Championship. The BCS consists of the Rose Bowl, Nokia Sugar Bowl, FedEx Orange Bowl and the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. The conferences with automatic berths include the Atlantic Coast, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-10 and Southeastern Conferences. The Bowl Championship Series guarantees a matchup between college football's top two teams in a true national championship game. Any Division I-A independent team or champion of any other Division I-A conference which is ranked sixth or higher in the BCS standings, will also be eligible for the Bowl Championship Series. A team that finishes as a runner-up to the conference champion in one of the BCS conferences and is ranked 3 or 4 in the final BCS rankings will automatically be selected to particiate in a BCS bowl game. Otherwise, any Division I-A team can qualify for selection in the BCS if they have won at least 9 college football games during the most recently concluded regular season excluding victories in exempted games, and are ranked among the Top 12 teams in the BCS final regular season standings. At the conclusion of the 2004 regular season, the FedEx Orange Bowl will host the National Championship contest. The game will be played on Jan. 4 at 8 p.m. ET in Miami, Fla. The FedEx Orange Bowl shall select the top two teams ranked in the BCS final regular season standings. The BCS will uses regional consideration regarding team selection. Specifically, as a member of the BCS, the Rose Bowl will host the Big Ten and Pac-10 champions in those years in which either the Rose Bowl does not have the national championship game or the Big Ten and Pac-10 champion is not ranked No. 1 or No. 2. Other "regional consideration" tie-ins include the SEC champion in the Sugar Bowl, the ACC or Big East champion in the Orange Bowl and the Big 12 champion in the Fiesta Bowl. Other BCS bowl games at the conclusion of the 2004 regular season include the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 1 at 8:30 p.m. ET, the Nokia Sugar Bowl on Jan. 2 at 8 p.m. ET and the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1 at 5 p.m. ET.
