Dambit! I knew I should've photoshopped it! It is exactly what it looks like...a Ribbit. They blow them suckas UP! About the only way you can fish in the thick grass...froggies. Stupid redfish don't care what swims by...they eatin' it! But don't tell nobody...
So CS, do we believe him, or did he already Photoshop it? I mean, after all, he did say before he went that he was going to take pictures. You think maybe that rod w/ the frog was a plant just to throw us off of what he really uses? You know those tournament guys and how tricky they can be!
Here's one with a different froggie...the Dean Rojas "Spro" model. I'm telling you, you should try it next time you're in the deep marsh. I would personally rather fish a spoon...not the color you're thinking. (I'll give in about the frogs...but not what color spoon I use) But some of these pockets are so full of grass/snot grass, you can't even fish a weedless spoon. Forget a jighead and plastic...or spinner. Throw a topwater and it will act as a rake. HOWEVER, throw a froggie in there and watch the magic happen, ma friend! - Oh, and don't forget...there's a LOT of "green trout" in the area. But I swear, I catch more reds on frogs than bass. It's kinda funny actually. I catch most of the bass on friggin' spoons, while the reds love the traditional bass lures.
Gotta be gold. I always have trouble getting a good hook set with a ribbet (for bass). But those Reds are a lot meaner.
Not gold. - "Silver and gold have I none..." - As for the hookset...lay the steel to 'em, man. Let 'em know who's in charge early.
It's CALLED black...but yes...it's more like a smoky platinum. It works much better than gold in those shallow ponds with grass, because the water is so clear...the gold is too bright. Also, I use the 1/4 ounce...smaller profile...the big ones also spook the fish.
