Whenever my dad was around and I would go visit him in NOLA he would take me to Rally's. Good times. That was definitely something I looked forward to when I got to go see him.
I noticed that too. The first time I had What-a-Burger was in Houston around '94 or something as a kid. It was nasty then with all the mustard. I went there again a couple of years ago, and it tasted the same. lol Anyone remember Fast-Track? :hihi:
Guess I'm just not a chain restaurant type guy but I don't think any of those burgers are something to write home about. Now Port-O-Call in NO, Raul's or Brewbaucker's in BR, or Angry Dog in Dallas have some good burgers.
Where is Angry Dog in Dallas? I'm sure it's far from the 'burbs! If you're ever up in Plano/Frisco/Allen, there is a local place called Scotty P's that has good burgers. JC's burger house in Plano is good, too. I also like Joe Willy's down on Greenville. And Ben's Half-yard House (before it closed) had great burgers.
Angry Dog is in Deep Elum on Commerce St. There are actually few good burger places like Jake's, Snuffer's, Ball's, and Chip's. I know there is a Snuffer’s up in Lewisville now. I'll have to try Joe Willy's, I've never heard of that one. D magazine did a best burger in Dallas issue last year. They took 64 burger places and put them in an NCAA tournament style bracket to determine a winner. The winner was a place called Wingfield’s in Oak Cliff. I made the trip down there once and the burger was pretty good. They neighborhood not so much.
