Todays athletes need strong leaders to follow. I believe that Nick Saban has proved to be just that since arriving at LSU. If Saban can go out and recruit the best talent in Louisiana and in the nation, while also improving the athletes graduation rates, then Louisiana State University followers should'nt give a darn how he gets it done. Saban has LSU on the right path, let's get behind this coach and team while they leads us to the promised land.

Our record is 5-0 and we are ranked #6 in the nation. Our coach gets the most out of his players and they love him. The coaching staff works very hard for this team and the team has responded. I do not see anything to complain about. Well, I do have one complaint, I cannot seem to get tix to any of the remaining games.

I use these same philosophies when raising my child. I let them know when they do something wrong and praise them when they do something right. Many of these players have never had that and as a result Saban could take on a father figure for many of these kids. I live in the Dallas area and many of the things I hear Bill Parcells say, Saban preaches the same things. It is working in college for Nick, but without skins on the wall like Parcells, it may not be as effective in the NFL. Stay Nick, we'll make you king!!!

Well, we still have a team prayer before every game (which I like, by the way). I've heard him talk about it on his radio show before.

Shhhh! Don't let the ACLU know.

I wouldn't have brought that up if I hadn't heard about it. Coach Saban is the one who opened that door.

And I think there are other ways to get through to your players without cussing. Losing one's temper is fine. Raising your voice a little to get your point across is fine. But a line has to be drawn somewhere.

I won't hold it against Coach Saban though. One time, I heard on his radio show, "When I pray, I pray I won't get angry." I guess he's trying, but he just can't help himself. We all have to at least try to contain ourselves though.

Anyway, we're 5-0, ranked #6 in the country. He's doing a lot more right then he is wrong. Only a nit-picking perfectionist could ask for more. So I'm gonna let this go, and I suggest all the rest of us do the same.

Jetstorm, Last year (on radio or the TV show, I forget) Nick said he had been lecturing his son on anger management. The youngster retaliated with "How many headphones did YOU break last year?". Nick admitted to him that he had a point.

So, Nick is quick to anger, but he knows it and manages it. Pretty well I think.

So how many headsets does Coach Saban go through a year?

Being the son of a former high school basketball coach, I can truly understand the moods he gets in. My Dad also tried really hard not to get angry at his players, but sometimes you just have to, or you can't help yourself.

I remember one memorable halftime speech where, after the team had basically played like garbage and was down 17 at the half, he came into the locker room, threw his markerboard across the room, threw a chair across the room, and started just yelling at the top of his lungs and pointing at each and every one of the starters, telling them they were not playing near what they were capable of playing and that they had better suck it up and play with some pride or they would no longer be starters. One of the few times I've seen him REALLY angry.

Well, we didn't win the game, but we played much better in the second half and only lost by 8. So, sometimes the players do need a fire lit under them.
