A theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.

tax –noun
A sum of money demanded by a government for its support or for specific facilities or services, levied upon incomes, property, sales, etc.​

Taxation is a recognized system of gathering revenue in democracies, almost all of whom have sliding scales. It's in the Constitution.

Socialism is like . . . the government buying out the nation's corporate financial debts and making all of the citizens responsible for it.

No, it's like why we have handicaps in golf. If only the top players could win, then most would lose interest in the game, the club closes, and even the best golfers can't play. It's in the interests of everybody, including the elite, for the impact of taxes to be more even.

Taxation is entirely constitutional and it is not punishment, it is a privilege of citizenship. Fixed tax rates inherently favor those who have more money. The more money they make, the less the real impact it has on them. What punishment? It's more like a perk.
