You give too much credence to a government agency. Especially one that has a lot authority like the FBI. Especially with their massive overreach given to them by the W administration.
Pretty sure the secret service is non-partisan. Look at Dan Bongino, protected the muslim asshole for a couple of years but hates his guts, still would have taken a bullet for him because that is/was his job. Bottom line I think whoever leads that unit said something about them getting erased in a phone switch or something like that. I know I just got a new phone and lost a shit ton of messages. If they are important I'm sure some tech hound can snoop them out because nothing is ever really "deleted" unless your name is clinton
There's a whole lot of difference between your personal cell phone and government issued equipment. If you really believe it was an accident that something so wide spread was an accident you are telling me you have no IT background. I retired from a large governmental agency almost 11 years ago and it was unheard of even then not to back up daily operations, much less system changes. To give a pass on that, and during those critical days/weeks/months where so much was happening around the election and the president, but damn the FBI within minutes after a court ordered search of Trumps residence tells where your allegiance lies.
