Good point. In terms of his athletic ability, I think he was sorely missed early in the year, especially on punt returns. Hope he can be 100% in '05.
Ask me in a couple of years. JV was awesome last year with a better OL. How do you know reggie bush will be so great next year?
I'd take Skyler over Reggie any day as well. It's a matter of how he is utilized. Plug Skyler into the same roles into USC's offense as Reggie is and tell me how you think things would turn out. In my opinion, Skyler has been under-utilized. Mind you, I know he played through injury this year. Speed and talent like that can be used at just about any skill position on the offense on occasion. Hopefully our next offensive scheme allows for such creativity.
I agree completely... I believe that Norm Chow is one of the only reasons that reggie is so successful, because many of their plays are centered around him... put him into the same position that Skyler is and he is just a good-great reciever, not a heisman candidate But look how well Syler can do once he can get into the open field (punt returns, esp. last year) If we get some plays centered around Skyler next year, look for him to have a breakout Sr. season :thumb:
i love skyler but Id take RB everyday of the week and twice on Sundays before him. watch where each go in the draft for a better gauge of talent.
A running back? Then you don't want Reggie bush, he's accumulated the most lost yardarge in the back field of anyone in the NCAA they said in the Orange Bowl. He's only good in the open field, very very often he gets tackled before anything happens but he's a play maker if he gets past the line. His performance is completely based on his O-line. All he's good for is specialized plays like sweeps etc. Where they go in the draft means nothing. You could make that argument about the Heisman yet Reggie Bush's stats were nothing short of average - that award is based on hype and so is the draft. Look at their success in the NFL for a better gauge of talent.
i agree with tirk. skyler is to slight to be a rb and is therefore less valuable too the team. both are good receivers, both good returners. i also think bush is faster (although there's a helluva lot more to being good than that). also, bush is the focus of opposing defenses and skyler has never really had to handle that. still, the OL can make almost anyone look good or bad. put it this way, swap bush for kevin faulk, back in the day, and bush would have done better--although he may not be as good of a receiver.
