Yes, Jim Tressel can win the NC without John Cooper's talent, here's a couple of reasons why:

He already has - John Cooper didn't recruit any players for Youngstown State.

Ok, Ok... D1 argument: What variables go into winning an NC other than player talent? Coaching, attitude, pre-game meal...whatever they are, let's call the sum of them x and player talent pt. It's proven that John Cooper had the pt to win the NC (but not the x)...

JCpt + JCx < NC Win

...it's also proven that JT has the x because he won with JC's pt. So...

JCpt + JTx = NC Win (v Miami)

So the question becomes whether JTpt >= JCpt.

Looking at the JT recruited OSU pt in the NFL, I think that it is. So, Yes, Jim Tressel can win a NC without John Cooper's talent. But this one? Against the dreaded and fast SEC...against whom OSU posts the 0-8 bowl record? Well, that's outside the scope of this thread.

Did "the defensive end for Florida" say whether Arkansas and Tennessee were among those 4-5 teams?:)
