And you imagine the founders would be pleased with the elite class ruling and weeding out the middle class?

Which would end up being about 60 percent, and you say it would be catastrophic yet provide nothing to back that claim up. It would create a healthy and booming middle class, like in the 50's. Make schools affordable, make it to where people don't have to lose their homes and go broke when they get sick, create jobs by rebuilding roads and bridges. It wouldn't be catastrophic it would mean George Soros and Warren Buffett and the Koch's wouldn't get to park money offshore, and would pay a higher percentage than you or me, the country that made those fuckers rich. It wouldn't be catastrophic it would be what made this country great to begin with.

    Likewise.

How difficult would it be for you to maintain your standard of living if the government took .90 of every dollar you make?

You good with that? I'm not.

Not talking about me. Talking about the 1 percent. And the proof is in the past.

I see, so it's ok to take things from someone else and give it to people who don't deserve it.

The founders would never have imagined the amount of debt we have today. You could tax the top percent nearly 100% of their salary for the rest of their lives and not even touch what we currently owe. More taxes is a basic math problem and it doesn't solve the issue. Furthermore, it doesn't address human behavior or the cycle of poverty and government dependence that is currently entrenched. When people have no experience doing for themselves, "I'ma do me", they aren't going to learn at this point.

We could, for instance, make SS unavailable for the top 10%. We could be better at solving the offshore/out-of-country tax shelters. We could require lawmakers to serve shorter terms. This is such a short list but this is the right way to go about the problem, not government theft of hard-earned money or double taxation/taxation without representation.

The original tax rate when the 16th Amendment was ratified in 2016 was quite reasonable to rich and poor alike. Like everything else the government has it's hands in it has increased now to the point where everybody gets fucked.

    Revenue Act of 1913
Normal income tax and additional tax on individuals

    38 Stat. 166 [7]

Income Normal rate Additional rate Combined rate
    0 1% 0 1%
    $20,000 1% 1% 2%
    $50,000 1% 2% 3%
    $75,000 1% 3% 4%
    $100,000 1% 4% 5%
    $250,000 1% 5% 6%
    $500,000 1% 6% 7%
    • Exemption of $3,000 for single filers and $4,000 for married couples. Therefore the 1% bottom marginal rate applied only to the first $17,000 ($374,400 in 2010 dollars) of income for single filers, or the first $16,000 ($352,300 in 2010 dollars) of income for married filers (also see adjustments for inflation between 1913 and 2010 in the BLS table, below).
    • The ratio of top marginal rate to bottom marginal rate in 1913 was 7:1 (7%:1%). The last time a similar ratio was applicable was in 1980, when the ratio of top rate to bottom rate was 6.36:1 (70%:11%). In 1981, the top rate was lowered to 50%, and in 1986 to 28% (the bottom rate rising from 11% to 15%). The 1986 change dramatically altered the ratio from 6.36:1 to 1.87:1 (28%:15%). Today the ratio is 3.96:1 (39.6%:10%).

I already pay a higher percent, so do you. That's not right. But we are all just displaced future millionaires right?
