They aren't going to change a damn thing about Budweiser. They are buying American marketing for their other international beers that aren't selling too well. They need new Clydesdales, and singing frogs, and Bud Light Girls to promote their Euro beers in new overseas markets that have already fallen to Pepsi, KFC, . . . and Budweiser.
Budweiser is having lots of problems keeping their market share domestically. The beer market as a whole is growing, but the traditional powers (bud, miller, coors) are seeing stagnant growth. More American consumers are turning to foreign beers and small/craft beers that are brewed domestically. Companies like Abita, Boston Beer Company, and Shiner are really making life miserable for the big guys. I'm not a fan of AB's products, but it sucks to see an American institution sell out to a foreign company.
To amplify this, Coors and Miller joined forces recently, not sure how that will play out but it happened.
I don't worry about Budweiser. It is still the largest selling beer in the world. Anheuser Busch has four of the top-10 US beers including #1 and #2. Corona and Heineken are the only foreign beers that crack the top-10. Sam Adams doesn't even make it.
No kidding. However it is one of the small/craft beers that he mentioned to be threatening Budweiser.
I was surprised. I figured that Sam Adams was in the big leagues now. It's good beer and they sell a lot of it.
