A NEW Cammy update... Just got back from the hospital and talked to one of Cammy's doctors. She has tested positive for para influenzia, a flu bug. The doctors are very pleased with her progress so far, she is done with the antibiotics and they say she is on the recovery side, they say it is common for babies to get something like this after a surgery. They also say that she is a real strong little girl and that she has handled it better than most children. They think she will be able to come off the ventilater tomorrow or Monday. I "Believe" it is everyone's prayers... Thank You Everyone and God bless you and America!
This is the first time I am reading this thread. You have a beautiful baby girl. Also, there's no doubt about who Tyler's Dad is. Happy Mothers Day to your wife and continue to keep us posted.
I'm so happy to hear that Cammy is doing well! I know our prayers will help. I had a student last year who had cancer. We were told she was terminal, and that she just wanted to go to school and be "normal" for as long as she could, but the tumor in her throat was going to kill her in a matter of a couple of months. There was nothing else the doctors could do... This was obviously devastating for me as her teacher. I would go into class and look at this desperately ill 12-year-old girl, who had decided she didn't even want to wear anything to hide her baldness anymore. I prayed and prayed for her comfort and for the comfort of her family. She went to the doctor for them to see how big her tumor was becoming, and the doctors were shocked. Andrea's tumor had disappeared. They said nothing short of a miracle could've done it. Prayers DO work! Andrea will be in 8th grade next year, a year and a half after all of the doctors said she'd be dead. It sounds like Cammy is on her way to recovery. Do you have any idea when she'll get to go home with you? Maybe she and Skylar will be at LSU together in 18 years!
The Doctors said that she should be coming home 2 to 3 weeks after the G-tube surgery. As far as I know this is still possible, haven't heard anything else otherwise. They have decided to leave the ventilator on for about 3 more days. Just came from the hospital and not much has changed since yesterday. I don't think Cammy and Skylar will go to LSU or college together because Cammy has down syndrome, its possible but not probable. Maybe Tyler who is 4 and one of your other children will geaux to LSU together. If I remember right, you do have some other children around 4? I will encourage him to geaux but he'll have make that choice.
My daughter is 4 and if she even thought about going anywhere else I'd beat her. Just kidding.:hihi: I'm glad to hear that Cammy is doing well. Keep updating us. Alot of us are praying real hard for you and your family and the updates help alot.
SDM, I have a daughter who will be four in August, so she'll graduate from high school in the class of 2019. I'll encourage Sloane to take a look at LSU, but who knows if one of the Texas schools (I hope NOT A & M) or OU will capture her interest instead? I hope Cammy gets to go home really soon!
At 4, she's old enough to be warned about the aggys. :nope: I hope it's not too late. Get out a map and show her how to get to Baton Rouge from where you live. Help her memorize the directions. Take some scissors and cut out Oklahoma, move it west and tape it just above Washington State. Tell her it's too far away from home. :hihi:
Believe me, she can already pick out Baton Rouge on her US puzzle that she loves to work. We haven't worked on where College Station is yet. Why would we? By the way, Geaux Cammy--we're all rooting for you!
Just wanted to let you know that there is no new news really other than the doctors say Cammy is getting better. She has the flu and it looks like its going to take some time. She is still on the ventilator for now, one thing about this is that it makes it easier to get the secretions out of her lungs since she doesn't have the ability to blow her nose or clear the secretions herself. Thank You all...
Another Cameron update... OK, so Cammy is doing better, she is off the ventilator but the doctors want to look at her throat and make sure that everything is ok. They suspect that she might have a little problem here that is repairable. When you eat your vocal cords close, they think hers may close but that their may be a tiny hole in them or something like that. They suspect that when she takes milk by mouth that some could be leaking and heading to her lungs. It looks like she's heading back to the OR sometime next week? They want to scope it out. Let me make this clear, All of Cammy's problems are due to she has down syndrome. WE WEREN'T as LUCKY as some fine folks we met that had their down syndrome baby a week after we did, that baby was only in the hospital a few weeks and was born on schedule. Cammy was born at 32 weeks. Thank You, I am still optimistic but am starting to wonder if Cammy will ever come home. I do realize it could be a lot worse however! :thumb:
