Doesn't this little stunt the NCAA pulled potentially put its tax-exempt status in serious jeopardy? After all, the NCAA and SEC are essentially abetting flagrant violations of its own amateur by-laws and creating a de facto professional market, despite all of Emmert's lawyer BS claims of plugging the loophole later. Especially with all the attention that's going to be focused on the USC appeal and the NCAA's blatant hypocrisy in dealing with them.
And the media is already setting the table for it, so expect it to become a circus. Won't this all be rich, the NCAA lets Cam/AU off the hook, now setting a new precedent, in order to reverse the USC decision. What if that is even part of the ploy? The story lines are limitless, and they are going to make millions on the movie.
This whole debacle is a fckin joke, and the smug Auburn folks don't seem to see a problem at all. Go to their forums - I haven't seen a single ounce of dissension. Of course, if this were to happen at LSU how many here would be upset at the current outcome? I'd have some serious reservations myself. But the whole NCAA (well fans, aside from the actual NCAA) except Auburn think this is a joke. Similar to respect for Les Miles (and I think as critical as I am, I have more respect for Miles than the average guy nationally).
Oh.. I thought you were saying that was the song he was quoting. If not, disregard.. Maybe it is I who should take another hit..
all i know is that i'm cheering for south carolina tonight. edit: SEC commissioner Mike Slive says Cam Newton ruling 'fair' - NCAA Football - SI.com
not even close. I've been anti-Auburn as long as I can remember. If they were playing against Satan's army, i would be pulling for the Prince of Darkness.
