Man it must hurt to be an AU fan. They go undefeated and don't get in the BCSNCG, then they are on their way to undefeated and all of this comes up. I am not saying they should get a pass, I am just saying we should count our blessings. Can there be any doubt he goes pro now?
i agree, he should step up and spill the beans, and to be honest, his father should be more of a role model and step up and do the right thing. I mean how can you expect a kid to do the right thing, if his dad wont.
I find absolutely nothing about this story, to be unbelievable, or even unusual. I honestly believe that this kind of thing is rampant, and is done by alumni assoc.'s, or "friends of the university" all over the country. I hope it isn't being done at LSU. But nothing surprises me at this point. The coaches don't want to know, so that they can honestly deny. But even Chizik hasn't denied anything. Claiming that reports are "garbage", is not a denial, in case nobody's noticed. The lesson here is the usual one, it's only the blatantly stupid that get caught. I will be VERY surprised after hearing this, if I learn that it's not true. Cecil Newton has yet to deny anything either. If you're a kid's dad, and this stuff isn't true, how do you sit back and keep your mouth shut?
I hope these allegations are true. Not because I'm a hater, but because if true, Auburn and Newton are getting what they deserve; and because if its not true then its a travesty that Newton and Auburn are going through this and there should be an investigation into why this is all coming out now. Major implications for LSU too, because if both teams end up with one loss, these infractions will help LSU in the voting relative to Auburn. The allegations (if true) also have to hurt Auburn moral, increase the likelihood Auburn will sit Newton and in general increase the chances of Auburn losing a game(s).
Look, i'm not going to dog Cam Newton for taking money if he did it, his father can definitely be blamed, however, I don't want to hear people saying that Auburn beat us on the field, because if this is true, he shouldn't have been on that field. If he isn't on that field, Auburn doesn't beat LSU, and probably has 4 losses anyway.
To me, the question is more why so late in finding this stuff out? Obviously though, somebody at Florida had heard enough and took a big shot at Auburn. But it's starting to look like the cheating story was just the first horse to run out of the burning barn. Well, the 2nd. Flinging the stolen laptop out the window with the cops at the door was probably the 1st. indicator that something might not be right with this guy. And one more thing, just to be contrary. Trafficking in stolen goods is not a "mistake". It's a crime.
I really hope this isn't true for AU's sake. As much as I don't like AU, I still would never wish the NCAA sanctions the magnitude that USC got, on any program. If it is true then they deserve whatever they have coming. Now I asked this before, what damage could be done to the possibility of this involving more than 1 school? What if he was paid by UF originally? What if AU didn't pay for him, but he is there? Could this possibly take down 2 SEC schools?
Was listening to Herbie this morning and he is taking the road that until some concrete evidence if provided he cautions the Heisman and BCS voters against basing their votes off of allegations. He stated that, at this point with the information that is out there, he isn't changing his vote. That currently his vote would be for Cam, and should Cam continue to play as he has been, and AU continue to win he wouldn't change that unless something concrete is provided to show Cam could be guilty of these allegations.
