Thats the sad thing about it all. As has been mentioned by others, they have such an inferiority complex they would risk it all just to win. If it is proven that they really didn't do anything wrong they could be throwing away the future, just for the decision to keep playing him. That's really stupid.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm all for taking TCU, Miami, and maybe West Virginia with the rest of the SEC when we secede from the NCAA, start our own Southern collegiate athletic association (the SCAA), make pay for play above board by putting it in the bylaws, sign our own TV contract, and crown our own national champion. Think about it, with above board pay for play, even Vandertbilt could out recruit Ohio State !! Screw the NCAA.
Or perhaps Auburn just knows more than a bunch of guys on the internet. Nah, that couldn't be it. Surely our sources are better. Doesn't somebody around here know a guy who knows a guy who spoke to a guy at Denny's who has a neighbor that works near Auburn ? His info is always right. Didn't he say Tubs would be fired after Alabama kicked Auburn's ass 36-0 ? No one else saw that coming but him. If Cam is dirty, Auburn's entire coaching staff is gone. Their compliance staff is gone. The AD is gone. Perhaps the University president as well. They knew about this stuff before Cam even took a snap. I have to hope they are smarter than to play him anyway. If not, I hear Subway is hiring.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but since the NCAA is tax exempt, that's the entire point of keeping the product full of amateurs. I would assume once players are being paid, they would lose that status. I also assume that they must have run calculations before, and concluded that the product is more profitable if it is tax exempt than if they stop with the NCAA and just go pro.
You mean, the NCAA is tax exempt....like the first Cecil Newton Baptist Church is ? (I used to be a Jimmy Swagarian !! Now I'm a reform Druid...I still hug trees, but don't paint my face blue anymore. :hihi
It is a great city. The zoo is incredible, and nothing beats sipping a margarita on Joe T. Garcia's patio during the spring or fall.
The NCAA could remain tax exempt if they paid players. Non-profit corporations (churches, hospitals, charities, etc.) pay their employees. Tax exempt status has more to do with what an organizations' goals are and what they do with any funds left over after they pay the light bill. I imagine the NCAA is more concerned with the maintaining the image of the amatuer athlete. Plus it would get very complicated if the schools started paying players on top of the table.
don't know if this has already been posted here: tigerdroppings.com " as the Plains burn..." thread on Camgate
