I hear ya. I get it. I DO think if Auburn paid for a player they should be punished. Although NONE of the evidence so far said Auburn had ANYTHING to do with this so far. I know I know... But in NO article except the tigerdroppings thing have I read where Auburn was involved. Just Miss State. So I dont know until there is ANY shred of evidence that Auburn actually paid its all academic..... I have yet to see ANYTHING except on Tigerdroppings (Which is not reliable) that Auburn has actually dirt on their hands. All I have seen is Cecil Newton asking Miss State for money, and some guy saying Cam called me and said he is going to Auburn because "The money was to good" Again ALL greasy, but I think Auburn if guilty was pretty darn good at covering their tracks. Anyway I digress... I just see it differently than some, just an opinion dont blast me about it. Just think we should win it on the field. Plus for me, I am worried about Ole Miss, then I am REALLY worried about Arkansas. For me I may have a different opinion IF (Big if) LSU wins those two games. Then I may have a more of a railroaded opinion. But right now, until LSU wins those two games I have a hard time thinking about it.
I figured you of all people would want TCU more. Come on Stacey, that's a TRE ride to a LSU game, can't beat that right?
Okay, now that's true. However, I loathe Texas A & M, and it would be a terrific rivalry, and I would certainly get my happy @$$ down to College Station for the game. Plus, one of our good friends is a huge Aggie--it would be super-fun.
Agreed, people seem to think Auburn is indispensable to the SEC, and they are not. Especially in light of the conference shakeups this past offseason, which is only the beginning IMO. Picking up TCU or FSU should be a no-brainer on their part, since TCU wants serious national credibility and FSU would gladly ditch their joke of a conference for some real revenue sharing and bigger stakes in the UF/FSU rivalry, and the SEC can give them what they want in spades. Given the sweetheart deal Texas just got from the Big 12, A&M might even be disgruntled enough to bolt. The only downside for LSU that I can see is it basically gives Nick the entire state of Alabama for recruiting. Other than that, if the majority of claims about boosters, politicians, bankers, casino owners, and slush funds are true, then you're damn right I want Auburn to fry. LSU has given up a lot to keep a clean program in recent years. We still haven't recovered from Perrilloux's idiocy and the O-lineman attrition, and I'm supposed to shed crocodile tears for Auburn and hope the NCAA goes easy on them?
i'm with you man, i could care less if they get the boot. is it a black eye for the SEC? Kind of hard to blacken an already black eye. Everyone in the country that has followed college football for a long time knows that the SEC is dirty, and the 2 universities leading the dirty charge come from the State of Alabama, with the exception of the people from Alabama.
So I am supposed to believe that Cecil Newton did all this on his own and Cam had no idea that was going on? mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmkay.
Unfortunately, if the FBI is as involved as it is indicated in that report, then the NCA and SEC are at their mercy and cannot act until they say.
[ame="http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5822232"]Kenny Rogers' attorney: Sending text with payment plan for Cam Newton 'a stupid decision' - ESPN@@AMEPARAM@@http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=5822483@@AMEPARAM@@5822483[/ame] Interesting how the Lawyer explicitly says "Cam" never did this, or "Cam" never did that. Nobody wants to mention the father.
I think at this point Cecil knows he is going down, they are trying to do everything they can to absolve Cam from all of this. Sorry I'm not buying it. I know there are always scumbag uncles trying to get money for their nephews playing, but to say his dad did all of this without Cam knowing? And I like the Bell and Rodgers said something like Cecil saying "We aren't doing this free this time" or something like that. Who is WE?????
