I dont understand why people think Bammer (or anyone else in the SEC) wants to see Auburn get the death penalty. Everyone in the SEC loses with this result. Like em or not....they are a big part of what makes the SEC so great.
Agreed, why would ANYONE want our conference weakened. You KNOW for a fact a big bragging point right now is EVERY team in the SEC West but one is ranked. Playing in the best conference in the land, let alone the toughest division in the land is awesome. Its just a game, I want the best of the best each week. Win or lose. Line em up and play. What fun would it be being in lets say the Big 12 where the majority of your teams are spare (Kansas, Iowa State, Texas Tech, Texas now) where you have 1 or 2 big games a year. Not me, play a top 25 team almost every week. Doesnt get better than that. Also LSU lost to Auburn. Fair and square. They got beat. Not the end of the world you win some you lose some. But I hope and pray we dont "back" into the any title games. Win it on the field. How sad will it be IF that were to happen all you hear are the talking heads "Well LSU wouldn't even be here if it hadnt been for blah blah blah"
Wrong....sorry but if we can all open check books and pay to get the best players then its fair. However, when one team pays to get the best players and the other does not, guess what....that is by definition unfair. People break the rules so they DO HAVE an unfair advantage. If they did not get an unfair advantage, there would be no reason to break the rules. Very simple logic.
lol, fair. If Cam is ineligible player, then that is not fair, he should not have been in the game, and by definition the game was not won fairly. Its hard to believe Auburn beating us without Cam, period.
I don't think that many want to see them fry for this, but in the light of that report, should it turn out to have any credibility, the SEC and the NCAA turning their backs would be worse than handing down whatever to AU.
This is my thought as well!!! If the NCAA "already knows" the status but allows AU to rob other teams of div, conf, and BCS bowl titles and appointments, ... that would be a stain on the NCAA and SEC's reputation that would not come out very easily.
So if Auburn gets the Death Penalty, and kicked out of the SEC, pick up TCU and we get the Dallas/Fort Worth market. Then all the LSU fans in the D/FW get to see LSU play in Fort Worth every other year, and it helps recruiting in that area. problem solved, next.... if it were only that easy right?
College sports has put some serious cynical callouses on my back side. I think agents are out of control, shady recruiting and financial compensation is running rampant. Disgruntled players and coaches not spilling the beans more often, surprises me the most. I remember when Terry Bowden screamed to anyone who would listen that Auburn had a systematic process of paying the players when he got there and that was during the Ramsey period. Wouldn't an actual coach of the University be credible enough? The NCAA seems to rachet it up when it's time to make an example of someone. Otherwise why are some getting hammered and others get the proverbial look the other way. The NCAA is made up of the same competitive people with a rooting interest in there own schools. Just flesh and blood and that seldom gets us out of the mud.
Actually, I could see us picking up Texas A & M quicker in that scenario. They were more than interested in joining the SEC last summer. For one, I'd love that.
