If LSU had boosters that got caught doing what AU is accused of doing and they cost us the death penality like au may get you would never find their bodies. If tiger football was forever taken away from us as we know it and we were reduced to a c-USA team those responsible could never show their face in the state of Louisiana again.
Uh, we can't get too high and mighty because there was a time that this was simply par for the course in the SEC and far beyond. We have done similar stuff in the past. However in more modern times while it does still go on in some places (and it does), it tends to be hidden much better than Auburn has done. They are going to be punished as much or more for their brazenness as for the violations. I personally haven't heard of anything this large in scope going on at LSU for some time. When it all starts to hit the fan, I hope we are as squeaky clean a program these days as I like to believe we are because if it's a big as these allegations seem to be, everyone is going to be scrutinized on a whole new level. Auburn folks are probably going to name names on their way down if they know dirt on anyone else.
This is the same situation that Reggie Bush was in and as soon as he was found guilty of it, they took his heisman. Newton should be dealt with in the same way.
Just got this in an email, some of it has already been discussed, none of it has been proven yet, but this is what's going around.......... all of this is from an unknown source, so let me repeat, this is speculation at this point.
Man I hope lsu isn't doing anything like this. I started thinking that we bitch about miles loyality to some players and it scared me. I want to believe that miles is too good a man and coach to cheat and I do believe that is the case. I would think that the honor of being an lsu tiger and playing in tiger stadium while being cheered on by the best fans in the country would be enough to want to play at lsu. I would also think that the national attention that lsu has along with the number of players that lsu sends to the NFL would be reason enough to want to play at lsu also. But on the other hand there is also the possibility that this could be going on at any school. A coach puts himself in a bad situation if a player is being paid and does something wrong that should get him kicked off the team and the coach can't do it because of the fear that the player will blow the wistle in response. I feel miles is too much a lover of the game to disrespect himself or the sport like some of others have. What happens behind the scenes with boosters could be out of the coaches sight but I find it hard to believe that a head coach wouldn't know about it. If auburn's coach had any pride at all and found out his players were being paid shoud resign and refuse to be part or anything like that. Like I said I think miles wouldn't have anything to do with something like that and I pray that I never hear of lsu being spoken of like auburn is now
Maybe it's time to give Miles a raise and extend his contract...for running a clean program. If AU board of trustee members are so kinky that coaches inherit programs rife with corruption, and they're run off because they don't play along. And AU loses accreditation because of it...along with their football program being eliminated, then that sort of thing could happen anywhere. The consequences are so damaging that... ....we are damn lucky we have a clean program and a clean coach. I mean real lucky because that could easily have happened here with the wrong administration and coaching staff. Just think if Huey Long's legend was still alive and kicking in Baton Rouge. Those Alabama guys probably learned it from us.
If you ask me .. they hid it pretty damn well. If it were not for a separate, unrelated investigation by the Fed into criminal activity, nobody would have ever found about this. Funny how luck works eh?
If miles can deliver winning seasons and have us in quality bowls along with being in the national championship talk year in and year out while running a CLEAN program he deserves our respect and thanks. The au nightmare makes me see him in a new light. Thanks coach.
