i've actually been following this over at tigerdroppings and it is crazy. Honestly, I don't care if Newton is ruled ineligible (and i kinda hope he isn't just because of how good he is) but if what a lot of what they are saying over there comes true. good lord.
That in itself would be reason to pretty much discount everything you hear. The last time I visited that site was the day before I registered here.
heh, yea i'm inclined to agree. I just enjoy following the craziness. It's really good reading material
What's the lowdown on tiger droppings? It's another board like this one? A student board? Worth vistings?
There is a bunch to this story, which will take time to come out. I don't believe for a second the FBI is there to investigate pay to play, that might be a component, but they are there for something else. I would not be surprised if Cam is not the only one there getting funds.
I can't post the link to the ESPN story, because I'm on my phone, but in the FBI story they point out a clause in GC's contract. A typical clause of a bonus for academic achievments. Not sure why they point it out other than it seems a bit excessive, 1.45 mill for academic achievement. Is that high? And just what are they trying to allude to?
Au paying players for years and noone claiming it on their taxes. Boosters claiming charitable contributions on taxes but paying players instead. Au cooking the books to hide evidence of payer payoffs. Hush money being paid to people who would rat. Who knows if politicans are involved? State money or fed money being used to pay players or hush money. Who knows what FBI finds. I read something that was posted yesterday about an interview from a previous au coach that blew me away. Who knows what else happened. I read in that post that someone said he was scared they would kill him. He was checking his house for bugs. Wow.
The FBI involvement has nothing to do with Chiziks contract but you can see where they are trying to head if you put the pieces together. Thayer Evans has been calling professors at Auburn trying to get academic info on Newton. Combine that with the story about his academics at Florida you can see they are looking for a story about academic cheating to follow up on the original story.
So, there is no actual new news coming out from this story. I thought there were supposed to be a bunch of important meetings yesterday between the NCAA, FBI, Cam and Cecil, Auburn officials, etc. I figured by today we'd be hearing that Cam was benched or that at least the NCAA had told Auburn not to play him. Does anyone actually think Cam will be benched before the Bama game? SEC Championship game? Anyone think Auburn had wins vacated before the SEC or Natl Championship game?
