This sounds like a serious hose job to me .. do you think urban meyer wants to face the very kid he ran off in the seccg .. i think not .. where do you think this info is coming from... rumors and gossip doesnt have to be true .. as long as its juicy, people will believe it ..
I was about to say the same. No one dig up my GPA, please. It is real suspicious that all of these allegations come out when Auburn has been so successful. I smell a rat...a big one...but usually where there is smoke... I don't think the academic cheating will be an issue. If true he transferred before any punishment so it would be moot as long as he kept clean since then.
We already know where the story for the payments originated and it was from genuine concern by a former Mississippi State player. I don't think anyone at Alabama would have this information on academic cheating...so it points east and stops in Gainesville.
Am I the only non-Auburn fan that thinks Newton is unfairly getting drug through the mud ? How the hell is all of this Florida stuff getting out ? Look, I'm as big of an LSU homer, sunshine pumper, etc, as they come but I'll be the first to tell you the Ole War Skule doesn't field its athletic squads with nice young boys all out of Sunday School.
While I find the timing of this whole thing extremely suspicious, I've got the feeling there's definite truth in these cheating allegations. After watching the "kid" do a press conference and pull a Mark McGuire "I'm not going to talk about the past" routine, it looks like he's got something to hide. Not a smart move by Auburn to put him in front of a microphone.
I tend to agree; I don't think these kinds of things just all of a sudden come up out of thin air. I also notice no one has denied the allegations, either. I could care less about Cam Newton winning the heisman or whatever; just seems to be a lot of crap turned up in his wake.
It could be worse for Auburn. Look at Ole Miss – they sold their soul to the devil for a QB (the usual “a good kid” and “learned from his mistakes” stuff – oh weren’t we all and didn’t we all) and the Rebs still can’t even sniff Atlanta and the SECCG for the first time. At least the Plainsmen/Tigers/War Eagles were bowl eligible after 6 games and are absolutely in the national title hunt. The Rebs season has a much better than even chance of ending with the Egg Bowl. ldskule:
Miles got rid of the last of our Sunday school truants 3 years ago with Perrilloux, several O-linemen, and this scrub LB whose idea of fun was vandalizing cars with fellow brain trust member Xavier Carter, so if you've got some concrete examples I'm all ears. LSU is certainly a far cry from my undergrad days when Cecil Collins was having uninvited sleepovers in girls' apartments and purses were being stolen in the quad by team captains. And I'm willing to bet we have fewer skeletons in the closet now than any other top SEC program.
