There is nothing legally wrong with the kid taking money to play. With that said, there isn't exactly anything right with what he did to screw the school over either. However, with the way Auburn has acted in light of the facts, to me they both seem fit for each other. I really didn't have any bad thoughts about Auburn until they played him on Saturday, now that they have elected to ignore common sense and the obvious.... I will enjoy watching their program die.
I too felt bad for au and the players cams leaves behind but not anymore. After au playing cam Saturday and the way auburn's players acted during the game I hope they get as close to the death penality as possible
I was also prepared to give Auburn another chance from a fan's perspective after Tuberville left. His teams came across as having a thuggish mentality that carried over into their well-known on-the-field antics, and he actively encouraged some of that with the cigar incident. I had hope that with a new HC that things would change, and I'm starting to think Chizik is even worse. The Cam situation is one thing. Failing to discipline and rein in Fairley and his cheap shots is even worse. And that isn't a one-time thing, we've seen him intentionally rough up QBs week in and week out now. That hit on Murray alone should have gotten him ejected, and he'd be looking at 6-figure fines and a suspension in the NFL by now. And Chizik has done nothing to stop it. I never thought I'd see the day where I wanted to see a player get roughed up on the field to teach him a lesson. I didn't even want that to happen to Chaz Ramsey after he chop-blocked Dorsey. After seeing Fairley do this repeatedly with no discipline from the SEC or Chizik, I'm hoping Nick sends a very clear message.
Well there is some legal issues when taking money and one of the reasons the FBI are involved. Agents secretly paying players under the table brings up tax evasion issues for the giver and receiver and the government wants their money. Another issue is laundering money if say money was paid through agents to other agents or let's say through churches/construction projects, financial institutions, etc... Also an issue if tax breaks are taken by agents/boosters, etc... for charitable giving. All reasons why the FBI would be involved. Not saying all of this happened for sure but the FBI doesn't usually get involved at all without some kind of evidence beforehand.
Auburn mindset Please forgive me,I too was willing to give Auburn a chance, tubby left,May be they would be different,But Auburns problem predates even tubby,Now after their Ga. game i will say i have never seen more dirty players than their dl,you should have heard Ga. broadcast with that Cheap Shot on their qb,and they keep getting away with it,Now add in the Cam thing,Well you just get Auburn, enough said.
A retired FBI agent came into the cafe Sunday and said that the FBI is involved because what Cam Newton's dad did was extortion...even if no money changed hands.
If FBI interviews cam and he lies and is proven later he lied wouldn't that be a felony?perjury?false statements?obstruction of justice?
