Codi would see some wildcat as he's doing now. Either way, Auburn loses the special ingredients that only Newton can bring to a defense.
Hey tusk what's the gump nation think about all of this? Happy sad embarassed ? What about the average ala resident that isn't that into football. I would be embarassed for the state of Louisiana if it was happening here. Is the state split into two camps one thinking cams getting hosed and one thinking he's scum. Just wondering how the media and the talk around the water cooler is sounding
Yea, I agree. I can't see Auburn being kicked out of the SEC. Now, this has nothing to do with the CN situation, but I could see 2 more teams trying to get into the SEC, especially with all the conference shuffling going on lately. I wouldn't mind having 2 of Florida State, TCU, UNC, Clemson, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor, South Florida, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Texas into the SEC. In fact, I'd be damn happy to bring TCU into the West and Florida St/Virginia Tech/Georgia Tech into the SEC East. Anyway, back to Cam.........if his father is now admitting he asked for money, Auburn is SCREWED if they play him today. Also, that article above makes a lot of sense in a way that I hadn't thought about before. I never considered that Auburn ( and Tennesee ) may have made a $$$ offer before the Newtons approached Miss State with their hands out.
Actually, I believe you will be able to gauge this mess for yourself. The most believable part of this whole saga has been the way Miss. State has implicated themselves in order to get their story out. At this point they look far more ridiculous then Auburn. This is reflecting on the SEC conference, who are already the poster children for "we do it our way". LSU will feel this as surely as Alabama and the gang. What I have noticed from other SEC fan sites is one common thread: All Cam Newton vs the NCAA threads are the number one discussion everyone is having. No love for Auburn that I can find, no love for Miss. State that I can find. In the SEC that's understandable, we like to eat our own.
Came around from what? My stance hasn't changed it is just how it works if Cecil admitted discussing money. However, I do agree that it will take a ton to enforce the death penalty again. But anything bordering lack of institutional control will get USC type punishments. Playing him if Cecil did confess to discussing money at the very least = ineligible and only forces the NCAA's hand.
One thing is that when an sec team plays anyone outside our confrence we all pull for the sec team. If au makes it to the big game I will pull for them like I did for ala last year. Like cousins we fight each other in the back yard but if an outsider comes to fight we stand with our family. For the sec family's sake I hope it doesn't hurt the family name too much.
This talk about AU being given the death penalty is really premature, and in my opinion is extremely unlikely. Cutting scholarships, TV, and Bowls is likely, if the reports are true. This would be enough to cripple the AU football program for years.
Source confirms to AuburnSports.com that the NCAA met with Cecil Newton, his wife and Cam Thursday afternoon.
I think I read something the other day about Texas having its own Longhorns network and ESPN agreeing to televise it. That's millions of additional income for Texas, so they don't need the SEC.
