I want to reiterate the FBI said they are investigating if players in general are being paid to sign to play at universities. It's not specific like we are investigating Cam newton, but they do happen to be starting their interviews at Mississippi state.... I would be so nervous if the FBI was sniffing around me. Thats why the changes of stories I think lately
You can think what you want, but Newton taking the Joe Miller approach and saying he wasn’t talking about the past – things alleged to have happened a year or two years ago, really didn’t help his, his father’s or Auburn’s case as far a public perception. If you are going to put the young man out there to talk, you better let him say something that doesn’t sound like he is taking the 5th because he doesn’t want to incriminate himself. That was a really bad move by Auburn.
Wow the NCAA might be acting faster than they did for the UNC and other summer eligibility issues. NCAA could ask Newton to sit - College Football - Rivals.com Even more details from Rodgers and Bill Bell (MSU Booster). Picture this an Auburn Pep Rally that ends with the seniors of the football team (No Cam), fans, male pom poms, singing Lean on Me because of the allegations, and lead by none other than Trooper Taylor. Well here is the one of the funniest videos I have ever seen... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ngFVSUo-nc]YouTube - Auburn seniors sing "Lean On Me" at the end of pre-UGA pep rally[/ame]
Looks like when all is said and done, we may indeed be 9-0 right now. This is going to end badly for Newton and for Auburn. Probably sooner rather than later. The Heisman for Newton is history - those guys looked silly when they were about to have to rescind Reggie Bush's trophy and they don't want to go down that road again.
All I got to say is ... wow. .. this is truly sad. Cam Newton is a phenomenal athlete. Unfortunately, as with many athletes, he gets to be thrown in the basket of pathetic role models with others who think their athletic ability entitles them to step below the ethics line. Just think of all the little kids in Alabama who are wearing #2 Auburn jerseys right about now.
The NCAA prefers to vacate wins instead of forfeiture. What that means is that the wins are removed from the victor, but it still shows as a loss for losing teams. If Auburn is 9-0, their record would become 0-0 instead of 0-9. They don't get losses, they just have wins removed. LSU's record would remain 8-1. Frankly, I think the NCAA cannot force him to sit until a determination is made. We live in a society that values the notion of "innocent until proven guilty". What is more likely, is that Auburn takes a huge hit in the human polls and LSU gets some sympathy votes under the argument that "LSU would really be 9-0 if Newton had been rightfully declared ineligible".
Actually I have no issue with a kid taking money. Now the stealing thing shouldn't go away easily. All I see is a kid that was looking for money with his Dad, whether they got money is mostly irrelevant. The price is going to be paid by Auburn, and to me they look like they are in denial. Auburn is going to get a serious hammer that is going to make USC look like chump change if they continue this circus. For the record, I don't believe in this role model crap. Either he was conforming to the rules or he was not, if he was not well Auburn should put him on ice if they know what is good for themselves.
Man, the more I think about this the more it pisses me off. I mean what the hell do we have to do to not get cheated @ Auburn in some form or fashion? I really hope he didn't do anything, because if he did, he screwed Auburn, LSU, and the SEC.
