Auburn fans burying their heads in the sand is just laughable. To actually say the national media, ESPN, NY Times, Fox Sports is out to get the 2nd school in the state of Alabama is comical. Sorry folks, their is at least a 99% chance this stuff is true to some extent, and ask yourself, has their ever been this much smoke from credible national media without some fire? Auburn is foolish for playing him this Saturday. They still may be able to distance themselves from this mess if they do something soon. They are putting all of their eggs in the Newton basket.......with the known history of this kids character while at UF, that just seems foolish.
All I know is that they confirmed that it was them who was supplying the SEC office with info. Maybe they feel like they have been screwed by what CN did to them...that they should be where Barner is right now. Maybe it's a vengeance thing?? They didnt actually accept any money so what kinda trouble can they really be in??
They can get in trouble because if they leaked the student information on Cam, that is illegal. And Dan Mullen is linked to Florida, and probably some of his coaches are too. This could end up f*cking MSST up too.
Very well put. Although I still believe the money thing actually didn't go to Cam, that his dad is who benefited from it. Which is why his dad, who supposedly had contacts that were trying to negotiate with Ms St to pay for Cam's signature, but when AU stepped up and paid he insisted Cam go to AU. Which, to me, is why AU is so adamant about that nothing happened. Also, with as much as Chizik keeps being so defensive, makes me wonder just how much he knows about it. Almost sounds like he himself stroked the check. Of course this is all speculation on that they might be found guilty.
Ok...my bad, I may have worded things wrong. Miss St admitted that they turned over all information regarding CN in January and more in Aug/Sept. Leaked info was a poor choice of words.
The big question I have is why the hell did the SEC sit on this information since receiving it all the way back in January? This may ultimately be a big black eye on the SEC. Did they report it to the NCAA immediately? The NCAA didn't get involved until July.
Still, it begs the question of just what do they have to gain by all of this? In the really big picture, should Cam and AU be found guilty, it isn't going to look good for the SEC as a whole. Now my only thought is that they know more than is being released to the public, like they know that this thing is going to blow up big time, and Cam and AU are going to be found guilty, so they are going public to sorta clear their names of any wrong doing to prevent speculation down the road. If this thing comes out that Cam did receive money for his signature, coming out and letting the public know that they are the ones who turned this situation over to the NCAA it might make them look better in the public eye, rather than have the public think they might have been trying to hide something.
What if miss st did pay cams dad? Obviously if he would hide behind a church and funnel inappropriate money into a church, he would be capable of anything. That would piss me off if i paid him and he said oh well what you gonna do, report me?
Sounds like a good enough explanation to me...and kinda what I assumed. The main reason why many programs self report infractions. Better they report it than be caught.
Problem with that is if they did pay, whether they got him or not, they would be in the same boiling pot. Just wouldn't have to give up their wins from this season, because he wasn't on their team.
