This is more than likely the truth behind it all. Which makes this even more sad. The kid and AU are going to pay for the sins of the father. Cam probably hasn't even seen any of the money, at least not a significant amount. That is if this is all true.
If all this is true, Auburn won't be paying for the sins of the father, they'll be paying for the sins committed by Auburn, or people speaking (and paying) for Auburn. if the old man is really the demon, he had to find somebody willing to go along with the scheme.
The State of Auburn Football & It's Fans I just find it humorous that after all these sources come forward and claim they have evidence to back up the improprieties with Cam Newton and his recruitment to Auburn that the Auburn fans grasp for humor and jokes to lighten the situation. Personally, if LSU were in this situation, I would bench Cam, hope we can win based off our backup QB (unlikely), and pray nothing more comes from it. Think about it, they play Cam for the rest of the season and, perhaps, a shot at the NC. If they go on to win the NC and things circle around (a la Reggie Bush) in the coming years and find there is something to the smoke then they will lose their NC trophy...another NC Game wasted because some pretentious, dishonest player decided to take extra benefits - yes, I hate that smug look on Newton's face on the sidelines. So, all those War Eagles clinging to the jokes to make yourself feel better about the smoking gun, it's just a placebo...these investigations will still happen and possibly cost Newton a Heisman and Aww-burn their NC Trophy. Personally? I hope it comes out to be true because I would love nothing more for LSU's, possibly, only loss to be to a team that rides on the coattails of an ineligible player to win. Geaux Tigers, Georgia and the NCAA Investigators!
I think it'll get worse before it gets better as well. Maybe for no other reason than that when was the last time one of these deals proved out to be all wrong? I can't remember one.
I really don't get this sentiment out of some people. First, it wouldn't change anything, we still lost. Second, it won't affect this season until a few years from now, and still won't change anything for us. Third, I just don't understand the wishing for AU to go down, I wouldn't want them wanting us to go down if the shoe were on the other foot. Fourth, I really don't care how much one dislikes another program, wishing the types of punishment on a program really just isn't good. Not good for the school, really unfair to the rest of the players and future players. Also, not real good for the conference either. Fifth, becomes not good for us as well in the future. Think about a season like this one where getting to the top is a tight race. If you have a team that you go up against, which is considered irrelevant because they are ineligible, you lose that quality win component.
It's too late to bench him. Auburn is 10 games into the season; they have no choice but to ride it out, play for the BCS NC and hope nothing comes of it.
Exactly. If you bench him, you're admitting guilt and what's the point of that, your season is in tatters anyway.
