Not a Newton fan, but I have to admit that's pretty impressive; especially considering it was on the road. That's got to be a record for a rookie QB.

He's not a rookie. This is his second year as a pro.

    And he's 0 & 1 with the Panthers.

It was against one of the worst defenses/secondaries in the league but nonetheless, still impressive for his 1st game after struggling in preseason.

Ha, true. I should have said 'against NFL defenses'.

And got beat by former Tigers!

He appears to have revived the career of Steve Smith.

Yep, 8 rec. 178 yards and 2 TD. If I'm not mistaken, PP was guarding him, but that's a tough assignment for a rookie. At least he got one of them back with his PR.

I didn't notice who was guarding him on the first long TD, but it would not have been PP's fault because he sat down in a zone expecting help over the top and I remember the 2 safeties talking to each other after the play was over.

Newton is chewing up the Green Bay defense. How did Auburn not blow out everyone last year?

    Their defense.
