These "trendy offenses" aren't winning the rings. One could point to Auburn in 2010 as an outlier, but even with their running attack based on a spread option their bread and butter was the power running game.
Most trendy E/W motion offenses lack the line size and feature back to have a power run game. They also tend to deemphasize defensive stops. Just a footrace to the endzone.
An Ace set. It hasn't changed since 2007. There's been a few little tweaks here and there, but it's still the same concept. A base with a single back, two tight ends, and two wide-outs. The only real change in 2015 versus 2014 was more motion in order to get a better read on the linebacker movement.
That's right, nothing new or fancy. Just develop a decent QB, get the ball to play makers in space, call a non predictable game and let superior talent win. It's a very simple concept that LSU could use with its talent, but not its HC.
