Maybe so, I hope he can. I will say this, I am excited about Dave Aranda. I think that was a home run hire by Les and company.

Good post...Miles talked a lot about the Okie Defense yesterday. We need edge rushers who can play on and off the line. All of those guys fit the bill.

Thorton was recruited to play inside LB. LB was also discussed with Anthony and Martin by Arnada. Not sure if we will see White jump straight to RB but he could outgrow RB, dude is a monster.

Outside of the current class, we also moved Corey Thompson down to LB in this system.

Do you see a guy like Deondre Clark making the move to linebacker?

Maybe so...the line between DE and LBs are going to be blurred with Aranda. I can't get enough of watching his film study videos.

Major Applewhite is the OC at Houston, how can you say not much improvement?

Exactly! LSU has been known as DBU and DLU, it never has and never will be LBU. Louisiana just doesn’t produce big numbers of top notch LBs and out of state prospects don't see LSU producing great LBs.

The good news is that Aranda built his reputation creating highly rated defenses with 3 star players. Has he ever even coached a 5 or 4 star LB? If he has I bet there weren't many. Here he can surround that 3 star LB talent with an elite DL and elite DBs, something he couldn't do anywhere else he's been.

LSU needs to focus it's LB recruiting on solid LBs that want to be Tigers and quit chasing fairytales. There were multiple solid SEC caliber recruits that were highly interested in LSU had they been given a look. Bring those guys in and let Aranda do his thing. We don't need our LBs to be stars, we need them to not be a team weakness and we need enough bodies to let Aranda run his defense.
