He got a call from Cleveland while he was in Mainieri's office and they upped their offer. https://www.tampabay.com/sports/hig...-was-going-to-be-an-lsu-tiger-until-he-wasnt/
https://www.mlb.com/draft/tracker/all/round/4 I don't get it?.. the way I understand the rules, cleveland can only offer him a $434k bonus, take it or leave it
They can take some of the slot money from other draftees and add it to the offer for a player while offering other players less than their slot value. Surprising how it went down because Cairo's dad is a former major leaguer and you would think his family doesn't have to have the money.
I don't think so. I think if a pick doesn't sign the team loses the ability to spend that money but if a pick signs for less than his slot value the team can add it to their offer for another player.
yes India made a deal with Egypt to provide Muslim extremists to fight because they don't have enough problems with Pakistan. LOL. That is a better story
I admit right off the bat (bad pun intended) that I know very little about how all of this works, so I'm curious about why a pick would sign for less if he knows his slot value?
If he is a senior he wouldn't have another choice. Or a latin player who will take anything for a shot at the bigs. Could be high school players too dumb to go to college.
