Yeah, and I want to be clear that I don't want to insinuate that uscvball is knowing passing on a hoax, but I'm just wondering if this is something that's been posted online and gone overboard. Almost all sites I find talking about it attribute it back to WorldNetDaily, and I haven't heard anything about the rep of that site.

Most laws should be so out in the public that they would make national news.

I'm not CNN but I am credible. Don't you think there might be a reason why it isn't being reported? It's no internet hoax. The governator refused to sign these last year because he felt we already had laws on the books that addressed the issues. You think the upcoming election may have changed his mind? It's not like the existing laws somehow disappeared or expired since last year. Anyway, here's a link to the actual verbiage from the CA government website:

I obviously can't read something that long and filled with legal jargon, but I did text search on the page and couldn't find any of the following phrases: "mom", "dad", "husband", "wife", "restroom", "bathroom". I did see that they are adding sexual orientation to the list of things that you can not discriminate against.

Believe me, if it's true, I'm as mad as anyone, but I just want to make sure it's true before I blow up :)

Perhaps this comment from the article helps to explain.

the law is not a list of banned words, including "mom" and "dad." But she said the requirement is that the law bans discriminatory bias.

"Having 'mom' and 'dad' promotes a discriminatory bias. You have to either get rid of 'mom' and 'dad' or include everything when talking about [parental issues]," she said. "They [promoters of sexual alternative lifestyles] do consider that discriminatory."

For instance, when kids see the traditional 5th grade "sex" movie, instructors will now need to include discussion of sex change operation as an option for transgendered kids otherwise the idea of sex being between just males and females can be considered discriminatory by the trani's.

The law's author has been trying for years to pass a law (which was also signed by AS) which requires public textbooks to portray positive images of gay, bi, and transgendered people throughout history. Since history books have never discussed the sex preference of other historic people, I'm not sure why it should become an issue now. And again, publishers will cater to Cali as the largest purchaser so ya'll will be getting the same books.

Same legislator has consistently blocked laws intended to strengthen Cali's paternity laws which support fathers in establishing their rights as a child's father. At this point, it's clear an agenda is being pursued and to me, that's wrong.

The whole point is to write an ambiguous law that can be interpreted by the courts. Find a sympathetic judge and your agenda is on a role.

its unfortunate these fires couldn't have spared the homes of some hardworking, normal people and dropped right on top of a few places in sac town.

Cali doesn't want to talk about mom and dad, and Maine don't want mom and dad to know if their 12 y/o daughter is getting birth control pills from school.

Man, I'm so glad I'm done raising a child these days.

I thought one of the main tenets of the gay/lesbian community is that they can be perfectly good parents (read: mom/mom, dad/dad.) In which case, I don't see how it would be discriminatory to continue to use these terms.

And if there's concern about it being mom and dad, rather than mom and mom or dad and dad, consider the gay transgendered couple. Still sorta gay but with a mom and dad. Hmmm...this making my head explode.

When I was in school, I would have been a HUGE proponent of sharing bathrooms. Everyone knows it's hazardous to try to drop a deuce in the boy's room.

Zelda Gilroy! I knew she was a dyke in 1959 and I was only 5. She was the intelligent, but unattractive female sidekick, the prototype for Velma on Scooby-Doo.

My hero on Dobie Gillis, of course, was Maynard G. Krebs, the beatnik sidekick. Come to think of it he was the prototype for Shaggy on Scooby-Do.
