I have said here more than once that I'm a "glass half-empty" person, but you're even more pessimistic than me!
niccce!!! and this kid has already proven successful at a higher level. He had 45 receptions for 730 yards and five touchdowns for Pearl River Community College last season. appears that he will be able to jump right in and be an immediate impact WR
You worry too much. LaFell does need to put on weight, but obviously the coaches are confident enough in him for him to have been the 4th receiver this year. I think he will be a big deep threat next year.
Dont get me wrong, LaFell's possesses all the tools to become a great WR, speed and hands that can make great catches, I was just commenting on his lack of size, I just want to see a Dwayne Bowe 2 on our team since Dwayne Bowe 1 is leaving. I also forgot to comment about Byrd, seems like a great reciever, glad to see those visits pay off!! GEAUX LaFell and GEAUX Byrd!!
To be honest with you who cares if LaFell doesnt become another Bowe? Not saying this in a derogartory way towards you, just saying in general. LaFell may become better than Bowe. Give him time, he is only going to be a soph. He will gain some weight. He might not be the big targe over the middle that Bowe was, but to be fair, LaFell is far more explosive. He will become his own receiver. The forte has been for big receivers here at LSU, but you need other types of players as well. I think Doucet can be more of that Bowe style receiver. He has the size and strength to go over the middle. LaFell is more in the Buster mold, although smaller but with more speed.
It is very interesting that he is rated a 5 star and a 3 star. Especially after he played at JUCO (a lot of talent comes out of that school). It seems like you would be able to make a good assessment of the player after 2 years of college. This doesn't say much for the rating systems. I guess it's a tough gig. Everyone in the south likes Rivals, I guess because they rate us higher. I can tell you this, there are plenty of 3 and 4 stars getting drafted in the high rounds. Anyway, welcome aboard Byrd, I hope LSU is the best choice you ever make, it was for me.
I bet LaFell comes in at 205 to start the season. No worries. Last time I checked Randy Moss is still a skinny dude.
