At that time a Coke cost about a quarter but at the Goudchauxs store on main street there was a machine that sold them for a nickel. Isn't that the kind of coke you're talking about?

Whats wrong with the students these days? When I went to school LSU was rated as the #1 party school by Playboy every year except when they took us out of the ratings for being professionals. Now LSU has dropped out of the top ten. Maybe you should think about bringing in one of us old farts to teach ya'll how to party.

Funny, I was thinking "Man we've sure got some kids hanging around here?":D
Seriously, what other pursuits link the generations like LSU Football? By the way, when I was 14 my allowance was 50 cents a week and I'd blow it the 1st day on a bag of Jack's Assorted Cookies and a pack of Kents.

Eat your heart out SF. A guy who lived across the street from us worked for Jacks Cookies and he kept us supplied with more free cookies than we could eat.

I think Emmert has been responsible for getting LSU out of the top 10 party schools. I'm sure the students haven't changed much. I'm 26 now and realized this weekend I can't party like I used to. These days, it's usually just a mixed drink or two followed by a six pack and I'm at my limit. However this Saturday, I did the rum & coke (X2) followed by about 8-10 beers and then was forced to help my buddy out with his flask at the game. Anyway, big win prompts us to celebrate a little and the next thing you know we're drinkin till 2 a.m. and why did we end up at the Varsity? I guess it was like old times but I hate when everything gets fuzzy towards the end of the night. Just have to listen to Saban and put the "24 hour" rule into effect, and feel fortunate we made it through the game/celebration unscathed.

Heard Zep had some damn good shows (and bad ones too). Wish I could've seen them & especially Bonham in their prime.

Don't even go there. His ulterior motive was to stay on my Dad's good side since he was always wanting to borrow my Dad's tools or lawnmower or something.

A Few Thoughts from an "Old Fart"

None of those concerts y'all mentioned could possibly have been as loud as Aerosmith in '77! My ears are still ringing from that one. Zep never did a bad show that I saw. Their concerts in the PMAC were awesome!

6 and 1/2 ounce cokes could be had from the vending machines in my neighborhood for 6 cents! "Goatburgers" (BBQ beef sandwiches) from the local Pak-a-Sak (later bought by 7-Eleven) were 5 for a buck. Anyone here remember Uncle Ben's Chicken on Nicholson? Man, that was the best fried chicken I ever had!

The Who played the Warehouse?! Wow! I saw many great concerts down at the Warehouse, but I missed that one!

Remember Gaudchaux's never had a carrying charge and always had plenty of free parking?! I never knew what a carrying charge was!

The Police at the Fairgrounds and Ozzie and BOC (Early 80's) at the Fairgrounds were pretty loud.
