Gotcha. Went back and read the rules and your right. I'm wondering why coach would want to play Williams again if we didn't see him for MSU. I would think if they wanted to lift the shirt they would have put him in late in that ball game. I know MSU was scoring but the game was never out of hand.
Per TigerBait: Williams would still be eligible for a redshirt, but he must not be able to play for the remainder of the season because of an injury. A player can participate in as many as three of the first six games and be redshirted if an injury can be documented. Miles explained Wednesday that no one can be redshirted if he plays in any of the last six games or if he participates in more than three of the first six games. Williams played against Louisiana-Lafayette, Arizona and Tulane.
That's my thinking as well. Not playing him against MSU was pretty much the handwriting on the wall. Then I read in the paper that he has an ankle injury. It all adds up to a medical. We'll know this Saturday. I don't have a problem playing him if he can really help this team win some games. But it seems silly to play him in mop up time.
